FWIW, I first reported this back on page 20...http://www.treebuzz.com/forum/threads/compact-bulldog-bone.28246/page-20#post-402894... and was connected to the spine tending hole before the top tending hole was thought of.
I personally find a lower risk of this happening with the top tending hole.
Keep in mind that other then lots of splicing in small diameter hollow braids (Amsteel, Dynaglide, etc.) I've only done one 24 strand eye splice so I know nothing. I also have a hard time wrapping my head around the short buries when I'm used to 2-2 1/2 fid buries.
When lube is used, is it then...
In my above photo the cotter pin legs are only bent a small amount for a trial fitting of new parts. I agree on only climbing with the legs fully bent.
I only use a cotter pin one time. They frequently have a leg break off on the second bend. Get a bag of 100 stainless steel pins if you're...
Cold, windy, snowy day....what's a guy to do?
Make a new set of "comfort grip" upper arms for my BDB with Gordon's new 1 3/8" pivot spacing. :bailando:
Or it could be the Ocean Dyneema 7mm thimble loop from Teufelberger like mine...https://www.treestuff.com/store/catalog.asp?item=11132#detail
I got one when they were on sale for $20 and wish I had bought a couple of them.
I recently contacted the local office in charge of the Hoosier National Forest in Indiana and asked if tree climbing was allowed. I got a quick answer that they "had never been asked that before, but no, it is not allowed". I politely asked for the reasoning and have not received a reply. My...
Nice.:sisi:
I also bought a variety of tech cord by the foot until I worked out the combinations and I-to-I lengths that worked for me. Then I started getting the sewn I-to-I's. Seems like I mostly end up using one of the Yale Bee Lines.
I'm about 185 with gear and have had no luck using new HTP with the BDB and 3/4" bollard (or the Rope Runner). Here's a link to my earlier post #573...http://www.treebuzz.com/forum/threads/compact-bulldog-bone.28246/page-29#post-404544
The only thing I have that works well with 11mm-7/16" HTP...
It works well with the 3/4" bollard and my original BDB, but with my home made bone, the upper pivot spacing is 5/16" closer and it has a lighter touch that I prefer.
It is my understanding that the newest BDB's have the upper pivot spacing 1/8" closer (1-3/8") that I suspect will have a very...
He must be one strong dude if he can hit a car that had already "passed him at what he described as a high rate of speed".
I suspect he threw it at a car that was approaching him at a high rate of speed.
Some of you keep saying that. I still find tachyon to be so so with the bone. Too on and off. Moderation is more jumpy and takes extra care than with Yale 11.7's for me.
Shouldn't be a problem. Here's an onyx in the bottom of a standard size rope bag...
Google 'autoblock' and practice using it with the Figure 8. It let's you safely let go of the rope while descending on the 8.
Nice pile of gear. You're going to have fun with it!
+1....I had to set up a hitch climber system a couple of days ago in preparation for a tree to tree traverse. I played with a couple of hitch cords in varying lengths and had to find a video on the VT again before I got a good combination...
