Compact Bulldog Bone

Ok, so you boners that use a hard connection point from the new upper tending point, have you had it the bone disengage if you "become incapacitated"? If I lean back hard on it, the thing lets go pretty good and slides. I guess a bungee negates that?

Second thing, I had the leg break of one of my little cotter pins (or whatever you call them) it had only been bent the one time. So my thought is that it was made brittle by the searingly low temps I have been climbing in lately. That is purely conjecture, but Something to keep in mind.

Is he originally from Savannah, Steve? The name "Shem" has some Charleston roots.

Hell, hopefully he'll come on here so we can talk :) And tell him what a great job he did on that video... (y)
To end your speculations the name Shem is Hebrew lol. I'm originally from Vt but have lived in sav about 4 yrs.

I have been noticing that several people have not fully bent the cotter pin legs around the link shaft. These cotter pins are not that strong and care needs to be taken that they can't be compromise by branches, bark or anything else. If you look, you can find stainless steel ones that are much stronger. Cotter pin checks should be part of every climb.

The SS ones are stronger but that does not mean they are non breakable. SS is much more susceptible to hard corner cracking when bent or rebent several times. I bought 100 non SS pins that I am using until I have all my configurations sorted out. Those of you bending and unbending the SS pins need to be carefull. Sweep the legs around the pin, don't just grab them with needle nose pliers and bend them in a sharp corner around the pin. SS likes slow bending speed and radii. Think more like u instead of v, look at the corners made my the legs.
