Jamie, I'm officially your biggest fan. I'd say I'm well into my break-in period and I'm getting an understanding for the sort of smoothness to expect from the Akimbo. On a Zigzag in DdRT, there's the very progressive and smooth release followed. Y very sudden and exact stops (if you want...
I noticed someone in one of the videos from some expo-or-another, when describing the Evo's lower D's, they mentioned that since there are bolt holes built into the design, it was "future-proofed" for improvements, etc. I don't recall the quote, but it sure sounded like a bolt-on bridge...
Used it briefly in a work climb today. I found myself beneath my main tip, with my rope going through a natural crotch redirect further out towards the canopy's edge. Sidn't want the redirect anymore, so I took my akimbo off the rope, snagged the rope with my DMM hook, and pulled it back...
I have my captain hook on the tail of Vega lanyard, and I clipped my akimbo on it yesterday for a quick comparison....I liked it quite a bit, actually. Descent was smoother than my other options.
I'm a couple days in now. Liking it more all the time.
If I have any crown cleaning to do next week, I'll still be on my zigzag...gotta make that production...but if I'm doing any spar or quick-up one limb sort of work, I'm feeling comfortable enough with it to start making it earn its keep...
Alright, got her out of the box, threw a rope 15' up in the ornamental in the front yard, and did some adjusting.
I'm currently climbing on Samson Tangent, which is advertised as an 11.8mm line. I've been very pleased with its performance in my Zigzag, but I noted quickly that it's not on the...
This might not be your thing, but hear me out: The rubber silky attachment doohickey that you've got your s-bone clipped to is designed to go over a belt of some sort. What I do is run my leg strap directly through that rubber doohickey, and buckle it together. It still gives it a bit of...
I think the idea may not have been so much the ability to remove the weight--which as mentioned already really helps the hook work properly--but to allow adding additional weight to the nose if desired. Could help with positive hooking, longer throws, etc.
Sherrill emailed to re-confirm my payment method today. They got a shipment, and sent my info to their warehouse today. I daresay they're likely to have arrived pretty much everywhere.
Another thing I'm not seeing much of, the back...it's pretty much completely reconfigured. Most of the gear loops are vertical now, which I prefer, from the sides all the way across the back, minus three near the bottom that hang horizontally.
We also have three webing options for attaching a...
Found this little gem with English Subtitles that explains some of the updates that aren't in the limelight...the new buckles, and some webbing clips that won't let the straps creep, etc. This actually has me more optimistic that I would otherwise have been.
Sorry I'm coming in a few weeks late to the party here.
First thing I noticed is that they've rendered a few of their tools obsolete...their adjustable bridge device (though never a big seller) appears non-compatible with this new configuration, unless by some miracle.
I'm curious about seeing...
