Fuck climbing on those janky looking Dee’s. Just a matter of time before one of those fails, and someone dies. Why overcomplicate the life support areas of a harness, just to keep up with the Jones’s (TreeMo)? If that’s innovation I think I will pass, thank you very much.

That lower Dee would be aight if it was all solid. No need for the removable gate. I guess it might be their little trademark on the product, or a way to ensure customers buy the petzl specific bridge... IDK.

The gates on the Ds and termination clips or whatever on the bridge ends look like plastic. I hope it's actually aluminum ( or even steel) with a matte finish.

I think I see a Allen head on the top of the black thingy. My guess is that it threads into the lower portion of the dee, and is braced against the inner portion of the upper. Likely stainless or aluminum

Yeah, I am sure it’s the same hardware that was on the last couple models. It’s not an allen, there is some other name for it but same concept. “Trex” screw, or “torx” or something like that. But still, the hardware (at least on earlier models) isn’t very large in diameter.
IDK. Can’t beat a rigging plate and a stopper knot IMO.

If you look at the top part of the D there is enough material for a cross bolt to come in from the back side that would close the opening and lock the black shaft in place.

It’s so hard to tell. Because remember the last model with the ring opens only had the one lock-screw. I guess we will just have to wait for someone to snag one or maybe the next expo.

Looks like the only big sell point is that this will have the option for an adjustable bridge if your into that kind of thing.

Sorry I'm coming in a few weeks late to the party here.

First thing I noticed is that they've rendered a few of their tools obsolete...their adjustable bridge device (though never a big seller) appears non-compatible with this new configuration, unless by some miracle.

I'm curious about seeing more, but I'm right now most intrigued as to why they didn't take their existing bridge design, with sewn eyes, and use the eyes themselves looped over the bar instead of using the eyes as stopper knots. Wondering if there's a benefit to one over the other in Petzl's view. To us, the idea of a simple stopper knot solution would be great so we could stop worrying about their shoddy stitching, but why would they do it, if they're still on their horse about only approved replacements? It looks like it'd be perfectly doable to tie a pair of bridges in the way the new TM is set up, and there's nothing stopping a Roll 'n Lock's use except politics now.

I've been on a 2nd Gen sequoia for about 5 years now, and it's getting to be time to move on. I've often dreamed that they'd do something about their dees to eliminate having to slip my lanyard above it now the bridge, back and forth, etc. Most of my solutions looked similar in my head, but now that I see it rendered in craft, I don't know if I like it.

I will say this...I see a wider back pad, and deeper leg straps! Woo hoo! I still say the SRT version is a waste since no one climbs on a croll anymore, so that's just a bunch of extra straps with no purpose limiting leg movement in my mind.

As someone basically looking in from the outside, it seems strange to me that a company would release a completely new attachment system like this and not cover its design and refinement, advantages over others, etc. to try to lessen all this speculation and fear of failure?

Just my two cents....maybe its got something to do with legalize or reverse engineering fears?

I use the Croll on one harness and the Camp Turbo on my main one. They’re nice when ascending, as there is no sit back. They push up an Oval VT, and are part of some suspenders when not in use. I didn’t think I would like suspenders, but it’s nice not having to continuously pull up your harness.

It seems like Petzl must not be compressing the two pieces together enough when being sewn. From others with the same problem, it will cost you to get a replacement. And it might not be any better, Petzl doesn’t seem to be too concerned.

As I've mentioned before, the Petzl Sequoia SRT waist belt is accidentally awesome. You can tighten the belt when you're up in the tree without compromising your security, unlike the quick release waist belt fasteners on most harnesses, TM etc. which have to be opened to adjust.
