Ideal Harness

So I have been beating this question around in a few different threads and haven’t really got a solid on it yet: Does anyone have experience with the Buckingham Rebellion? Wanting to know if there is a good solid spot for a caritool (most likely a vault) And because the legs only have that outside elastic support strap, do the leg pads tend to shift, putting the nylon strap right under your Fam.Jewelz? Pinching the femoral?
It is a lower grade and priced harness, but it honestly looks like it could get the job done and be just comfortable enough.
Honestly I am just trying to avoid buying and shipping it back if it is immediately sub-par.
“Cheap @$$ I.B.”

I have no experience with this specific saddle. However, if it is designed with the ergo type leg pads, (looks like it). Then the elastic strap can be shifted left or right on the pad. For my ergo pro it’s not the strap that holds it in place, but proper fitting. As mine is adjusted, the elastic strap just hold it all in place so I can step through.

My general advice to climbers if is you are gunna spend money on climbing equipment spend it on a harness. I was always taught in doing tree work for a living to have good boots and a excellent mattress. Reason being if I wasn’t standing in boots to work I would probably be sleeping. I think you can expand the principle to a good harness if you spend all day in it.

I understand the cash flow issue, but also have never talked to a climber wishing he/she had spent less on a harness, but quite a few times I hear the oppsite.

Good luck,

Tony

You can get a buckel at the waist if you want. Can’t hook the fall arrest in the front though with out the pictured waist belt.

It is not difficult to step through. Becasue the waist belt adjusts so easy, I open mine all the way. The bridge is more restrictive that the waist adjustment for stepping through

As for strap movement, I don’t have an issue. The waist creeps very little if at all. The leg starps a bit, but not enough to annoy.

No velcro on the straps. You just duoble them back and tuck them in like the waist belt. Theonly. Elcro is on the front stabalizer.

Would you be willing to post some pics of that harness? And where did you see the option for a buckle at the waist? The only place I have found that harness was Buckingham’s website.
@GreenstoneVT , if you have any pics too.
Thanks.
I was almost thinking about the ergolite (the one with the clevises and the warp speed) and replacing the each clevis with a ring open and just anchor hitching a rope bridge on there. But at that point it’s only a few bucks cheaper than the ergopro.
Then again... the Enpire would accomplish nearly the same thing with no mods. ‘Cept there’d be rigging plates rather than rings.

If you have it down to a few options you can order from wesspur. They will let you order several and send back the ones you don't like as long as you don't work in them. This option is only good if you can live without the money for a few weeks. I settled on a Buckingham master deluxe. It cost less than a tree motion, it is comfortable and very rugged. I used some delta links and made a replaceable bridge, this works great with a swivel.

@Alejandro Concolor Hey, I got caught up in life for a minute - still need pics of anything?
No worries. Life happens.
Yeah, if you have any pics of that ergopro that’d be dope. I am wondering how the waist belt seems when it’s all tightened up. Wondering your opinion on the rigid leg loops. And how the carabiner tunnel points are located. (One behind each D ring, or...) and there is no pre-installed saw snap on it, is there? And have you used any gear suspenders for it? If so, where’d you attach them?
I am torn between the Rebellion, the Empire, and that ErgoPro.
Thanks for any insight.

I use to run an empire with an h harness when I was doing large removals and knew I’d be dragging a larger saw a good part of the day. Had a onyx for cabling, trimming, and smaller takedowns. The h harness is nice if you are lugging a larger saw around. Empire was very nice and comfortable.

Yeah... wondering if I’d be able to run the lil $50 Buckingham elastic suspenders through the belt of the Empire.
Did you notice that the Empire ran larger in size than the size listed? That’s how the Edge was- much larger than the stated dimensions.

For starters I’m a fat climber.... now that we got that out of the way. I had the actual buckingham harness to go with it. However.... since getting rid of that saddle! I have a set of tool shop suspenders from Menards that I use with my onyx. It is very comfortable and quick of on with little clasp.

One spot for a caritool behind each D, then 2 spots for a carabiner. Tried to show what the buckle setup looks like undone and then a close up of the buckle. Like leg straps a lot. Have never had circulation issues.

the saddle is dangerous.
the rest of the world is using contrasting stitching colour to afford easy visual inspection. it is not a safe harness.
I wouldn't trust a manufacturer who neglects the standards.
Why would they choose not to follow industry standards? They won't tell us why, because I have asked them in the past and they refuse to answer.
I would stick with a manufacturer who shows due diligents and a standard of care that wants you alive.

Speaking of good saddles, l have climbed in Petzl Sequoia for the last five years. Great saddle, sometimes the legstraps pinch a bit, l am thinking of upgrading to a Buckingham Master 5.0. I notice how the legstraps are buckled high up on the thigh- crotch area instead of low on the thigh like the Petzl. I imagine the Buckingham might be more comfortable. Check out Buckingham Master 5.0, (Ken Palmer) on Utube. I would greatly appreciate and comments, advice on the matter. Thanks Treebuzz.
