Re: SRT the Flaw?
I pruned a Locust that was topped when it was really young. It had 7 leaders growing from about 6' off the ground. The shape of it was like a 7 fingered claw with fingers pointing upward. I was able to climb one leader, work, jump to the other, work, jump to the other...
Re: SRT the Flaw?
The sickest technique is to hit a primary and secondary shot (for a re-direct) from the ground; with one toss.
For example, you may get on of those jobs where you only need to get out one large broken limb. And that limb is out towards the tips. In stead of hitting a...

"Now how do you do the other leads without humping back thru that "redirect" crotch to proceed with the rest of your work?"
Very simple!
Look on page 61 of 'The Tree Climber's Companion'...and follow it for a single line.
It would be easier to show...
I saw the survey. I'm surprised to see that every salary went down since the 2009 survey. (The 2010 survey wasn't on the list).
Look at the salary results for 2009, then for 2011.
I'm mostly alarmed to see that wages for a CEO, Operations Manager, Office Manager, Supervisor, Sales...
Re: SRT the Flaw?
I don't think the word "flaw" is necessary. Cautionary measures may be a better way to say it. There are certainly way too many advantages to SRT.
Yesterday I was in a Cottonwood and I needed to get out pretty far to the tips. With DDRT I would have balked and did less...

I heard John Ball speak on this, just this past week.
The first step is going to canned two cycle chainsaw gas. He estimated the cost here in the US to be around $16 per gallon. He also said that once they can get a saw battery to last half a day, they'll hit the market.
Hang on to...
When a battery powered chainsaw could match the size & weight (the torque is already matched) as a MS200T, I'll buy one.
But, that battery powered saw is not for pro's. Heck, the dogs are made of plastic and don't look replaceable. The first attempt to put in a decent day of work would...

I agree. The technology it there. It's a matter of who wants to pay out the R&D. IMO.

I throw 100' plus on a regular basis. Right arm pendulum, 12 oz bag, 1.75 Zing it, no wooden bead.

Nice! It's because you're a Prime Ape!
I couldn't throw that high accurately. About 80' would be the highest and most accurate I could do.

... Don't forget the wooden bead for a release grip, makes a big difference.

I haven't seen that yet. Sounds like a good idea, but does the wood bead stop it from running to the ground?
It looks like a great tool. I don't have one. I suppose I should give it a go.
But, we do a lot of residential work. So, a lot of shots can be above concrete, asphalt, homes, hardscaped patios, etc...

No. This isn't a line from a joke. This guy was tryning to get revenge on some one who made him put out his cigarette. The people weren't going to put up with it either! Instant justice!

I'm wondering if a "bridge change" should be every 6 months. Too many bridge failures lately.
