motor pickles

[ QUOTE ]
I know this isn't a street bike but I ride my dad's 05 or 06 Springer Softtail (It's the last year they made this bike) Only been on one long trip and that was to Upper Michigan. Such a great trip. Some day I plan to purchase a Harley Crossbones and convert it to look like an old school knuckle head.

Sharp looking bike.

In closing...

Yeah motorcycle riding, like tree climbing, may not be the safest endeavor (like Vaden's tour guide job
cool.gif
...not ), but like tree work it is tons of fun and imo even meditative. The mantra is safety and imo (again) tree guys make great mc riders as every minute (mynoot) second of the ride they have to give full attention to not being injured or killed.

When doing this, it is very difficult to worry about being short on the mortgage, why your daughter is dating a punk rocker or what it is gonna cost to remove the malignant cyst on your cat's balls.

The thought came to mind the other day after your "Armchair Arborist" comment, though I didn't post then ...

But odds are I've probably pruned 3 times the trees that you have in my career. So you are basically following in the path left behind.

Done a lot more than that.

Either way, there is a truth that he that is faithful in that which is least is faithful in much. And vice versa. Pruning is pruning. A tree worker should not rely on constraining size of trees worked on to justify status.

Regardless, from what I've read, you are no less an armchair arborist than the average.

Besides, if you were so hot at your "mad pruning skills" you should be able to run circles around me even if it was just small and medium stuff.

not an armchair arb (recliner ranger) like you and not a redwood pimp either. Just an everyday arborist...some days spikeless pruning a 100' plus spread Pin oak (Friday)...next day (Today), taking a giant eab infested ash down over wires and 2 lane busy thoroughfare. Gross about quarter million with just myself and CA groundman and not sitting on my butt all day like you (me at 63). I been around your act for bout 5, 6 years now...think I know what you are up to :-)

Lunch over...back to work.

You back to that ostentatious website?

cheers

You are a few decades short of a six pack, based on that comment.

Maybe some time I'll arrange a competition over here for pruning someday, and pay your plane. But I'd want video for use at a garden show or something. The main concern, is that it's doubtful to have a 100% guarantee you would show up. Relying on someone to travel west on time is questionable. The plane ticket and hotel would be an investment once it was all said and done. Coverage would pay back itself several times over. Anyway, it's the only way I could think of that might silence snarkiness back into the stone age.

Oh ... and a 1/4 mil "GROSS" is still a little company BTW. And has zilch to do with being an arborist. Most "big" tree services are mom and pop by today's standards. And "quarter million" rather than "250 thousand" does not make it sound better ... even a landscape or tree individual could do $250K GROSS on a single landscape project. Have a great day man.

Sounds like ever so much fun Vadsey. Just what form is this showdown at sun up gonna take?

Dueling Felco's? Back to back with elbows bent and pruners at the ready. 20 paces and turn and twease your dogwood?

Or should I bring my Wraptor, bigshot, cube, and climbing gear? I will put you in a crotch if you are nice to me but you get timed body thrusting if that is your gig.

No inter nodals, stubs or flush cuts or I might have to report you to the authorities.

Toodles

ps...get me a room with a gym, treadmill, pool and a nice view would be appreciated. I will be caught up with current workload by late March.

None of those tiny jets. Was on one last week to NY and felt like I was riding in a blender.

I know guys that talk big about riding but I got a feeling they sit in the garage and make motor noises and let the fan blow.

[/ QUOTE ]

Don't know where that came from or if it was directed to me or who but I'll adddress it PU.

I am not "talking big" about riding but I like to ride aggressively within my limits and I like to have nice equipment. I am a fair rider but could, with time, be much better.

I know what riding "big" is because I often go and watch some of the world's best riders at Mid Ohio races. If I ever get enough time to get away my dream trip is to Isle of Man for the TT.

I have always had a bike since I was 16 and now am 63. I now only have time to ride about 3k miles per year but most are on challenging twisty country roads like Rt. 10 Ky. Almost seems they were made for sports bikes and twist and turn thru hilly farm country. People come from miles away to ride them.

Often I will do a couple of hundred miles on a Sun. for pleasure and practice by myself or someone on similar level. The bike I have makes me a much better rider than I am. I am a natural athelete my whole life and balance of a tree climber helps one be a better rider as well.

BTW PU, nice Avey. Is that you in the pict? Do you ride?

No that was directed towards you. I have an older kz1000 and love it. You've been to mid ohio? Thats a nice venue. I have been there a few times. I have been down and road the tail of the dragon. So much fun. I know two guys out there that bought harleys who bought them so they can say "I have a harley." That's where that was directed. On the other hand maybe we should hook up and ride sometime.

I'm just north of the reservoir. We camp there quite a bit through the summer.

Up around Liberty? We should get a ride sometime when weather gets better. I could show you Ky 10 and 22.

Here's a pict of kz 1000 with some mods like you got? Nice bike.

I have a soft spot for those old Kawis.
I've been riding my whole life, this is my latest bike. A buddy and I did Glacier and Yellowstone last summer, had a blast.
