I thought I had work hands. Guy, your hands show as much experience as your words. Nice pics. I think the cut diameter saves over reaction too. Looks like 3-6 inch as opposed to 6-12 inch. Reaction Depends a lot on species I guess too. If it's anything like white cedar I'm assuming it can...
I just finished a job quoted for two days and it took me four. The worst one in a long time. Four reductions plus apples etc. But I still loved it, and didn't mind, because on average I've gone from 30-50 percent low to about 10-15 percent too low. The point is that I climb 2-6 days a week for...
Ya that 3 trillion, 6 trillion trees thing is one hell of an estimate. I'd hate to be the guy with the clicker in my hand while fending off monkeys.
But estimate aside, just load up a satellite map of North America and judge for yourself. It's a sea of brown, yellow, and green rectangles...
Well, what an exciting thread. Seriously, this is good stuff. I know I brought pruning into it on an extreme level. But the point was that we can sell pruning over removal and that would be man giving to nature. And hey, I thought I was on an arborist site to further the relativity of pruning...
'Being wrong or looking small doesn't bother me'. Treetopflyer thanks for that. Me neither.
If any didn't notice, that's exactly what I look like on this thread. Or maybe madmax or some deranged Onan?
So I wanted to post over my last photo, so as to look a little more normal. Normally I...
Your right. Population is a big issue. And Now I see where the yallqueda comment comes from, sort of. But To me, the ball game is more about changing the future than the present. Not mass murder or mass suicide. I have already suggested to my son and others that having less children (0-1) is...
"Who gets to choose what life is worthy ?" What do you mean by this, BRT? And do you ask me if I will volunteer my life? Or my property?
I'm not getting the hair on my back up, just trying to communicate.
As for my property, I got home tonight and looked at my Boulevard tree. Not really...
What if it's not man vs earth? Did we forget the details again? What if it is 'man for earth'? A little less earth for man. Consider the solution more, and the over whelming main stream problem less. Maybe it should be 'man on earth', because that is what it is. Who knew?
I shit in clean...
Here's the rest of my tree. Not murdered or topped just strategically reduced. I murdered a few for Christmas in the past though, then the past two or three years had my son do the dirty work. Not too dirty.....we also had ham for dinner.
On the right. Looks more like the cedar on the left...
That's hilarious. I had written ... Comical, then erased it. So yes, comical with the bear on the top or plastered in lights or just plain murdered and standing in our living rooms. But still, conical Christmas trees set an example for a shape we should admire and aim for.

Merry Christmas everyone. Merry Christmas trees. Merry Christmas, Christmas trees. And May all your trees be more conical. Not just the spruces. The maples too.
Merry Christmas. Keep on rockin in the treed world.

Thanks for the encouragement, JontreeHI. I put a lot of study, thought, effort and passion into the practice, particularly with reduction and preservation. Sometimes I throw up all over Treebuzz. I'm practicing and sharing at the same time sometimes.
Thanks again Treebuzz and members. I've...
I hear you JontreeHI. There seems to be a sub thread in this thread. But I assure you it is related as I believe we need to advocate for artisan arborists and beware of the temptation to over capitalize on the merchant part. Not that removal isn't 1/2 artisan at times, bucket or not.
I...
I've had the Harris text book for a decade. It's pretty good. And I see what your saying about young tree training. A guy at the internationals once used the word fractals. He said his boss says to divide the tree into fractals. You can use this model and treat each limb like a tree, just...
Young tree training is first. But pretty basic. It's medium and large, often neglected (for the lack of a better word) trees that don't get pruned sensitively enough. Often this is because guys 'scale' up and apply small tree techniques to big trees. What a way to screw up a tree. Don't try to...
I understand that pole pruner cuts can be dirty, but not nearly as dirty as a pole saw or pole chainsaw. if a 1/2 inch diameter, 6 inch long piece of die back falls from a tree, does it make a sound? Yes. Just barely, but the tree doesn't care, it's much easier to compartmentalize, free of...
Check out the one I posted on nature vs civilization Thread. How does that fit the tarp theory? No offence just curious. John_KAYS or anyone?
Or any other comment? I ask because it is a 'close to the threshold' kind of tree.

I've seen hooks pull, cables break and cobra tighten up or rub apart. Probably improperly installed mostly. I've never seen failure above steel and I suspect that's mostly due to not installing high enough. I've heard of stem failure with cable holding the pieces from hitting the target. Cobra...
I'm still on the fence with compost tea but not well studied enough to give an opinion. I've heard a lot of bad and a bit of good. I think if a tree needs help then trying to restore the soil to a more forest like ground would be best. How Does radial trenching and mending compare to tea? And...
