nature vs civilization

Yng tree training is complex. Not all children grow and learn the same way. Yng tree training can be basic . You missed my point and likely the most important chapter in ARBORICULTURE. Harris. Look it up. Oh well.
Sensitive pruning, sympathetic etc Is young tree training. One is applied to young tree and the other to young leader, limb branch etc. Trueth is there is a time for sensitivity and time for boldness. It's not often a perfect world either way I feel you are off track.
When you snap prune by hand by tool how do you choose to snap up against gravity or down with gravity. Does the tree tell you. What kind of observation are made. Sense it I have.

I've had the Harris text book for a decade. It's pretty good. And I see what your saying about young tree training. A guy at the internationals once used the word fractals. He said his boss says to divide the tree into fractals. You can use this model and treat each limb like a tree, just remember that they are not isolated from each other.
For example, when choosing a leader on a multistem tree, we should look at the leading branches as whole. Sometimes a Codominant branch on the leader is keeping another reduced Codominant suppressed, or subordinated. These decisions can be tough, especially in a Freemani or a Sugar.
You are right though that some cutters don't even know the concepts of young tree training. I'm just saying that some that do know, still don't know how to apply it to large trees. Not that they do a horrible job, maybe just sometimes.
