    Phone policy for tree crews

Phones in the truck? What happens if the client has an issue and reaches out to you and you need to talk to the crew? What happens if there’s an emergency? Have an honest conversation, I think a policy is fine as lame as they are. But if you haven’t had a discussion first, maybe start there...

    Propping a tree?

I really like what Tree Care LA in Los Angeles does for propping. It’s a metal post that is cemented in with a threaded nut at the top to shore it up. I have been wanting to work more with props in general, and that one seems best to me.

That goofy dork looking guy Nick from Tree Stuff can shove it.

You and me both. But everyone is different and you can’t really measure yourself against others. this stuff wears people down generationally and slowly breaks down peoples pride or motivation. This is such a complex issue overall, and no one tries to address the actual problem as a whole; just...

I disagree. The biggest hurdle we face is salaries have not kept up with the cost of living in most places. Why should anyone get motivated if they face minimal investment from employers?

It sounds like they’re just trying to be transparent to their customers about the realities of these tariffs. The original email: Tariff Impact on Arborist Supplies Pricing Hey [name], it's Nick. I'm sure you've seen the news, and I wanted to send a quick note about the impact of the new...

    Beech Leaf Disease

I would be hesitant to use a company unaware that it is currently in use in MD. Macro injection is a bit of a “lost art” and not many companies do it right.

    Beech Leaf Disease

Injections are legal in MD. Find yourself a company that can do macro injections and have it scheduled from full leaf expansion to end of July. Any later and you see reduced efficacy. MD SLN label: https://rainbowtree.widen.net/s/qdm9vmgm9r/arbotect-20-s-24c-md

    Beech Leaf Disease

Look into Davey’s research in regards to Potassium Phosphite fertilizers for management of BLD. While you’re not actually treating the nematodes you will be strengthening the trees natural ability to be more robust and resistant to pests and diseases. It’s not a bad recommendation without a soil...

    Bulk apple tree liners

Yeah that would be a lot. Maybe supplement what’s missing? But that’s still a huge undertaking.

What about gathering rootstock and scion wood to get the needed inventory?

    Bulk apple tree liners

Ive gotten some root stock and scions from Cummins Nursery in the past and have about 50 root stock and 25 scions coming from them and one other grower with the intention of selling a bunch. Really easy to work with and responsive. https://www.cumminsnursery.com/ Edit: didn’t really know what...

It’s just a support role through the company I work for. I cover multiple offices and depending on the need and what’s going on I’m either with sales arborists or production workers providing support/training. The lions share is with new people, but it’s pretty varied. I will also say to your...

I do plenty of support for them. It can be soul crushing for some, and a welcomed transition for others. I think the soul crushers typically put way too much pressure on themselves, get stuck in the past (missing production work, or past roles) and try to take too much at once. Support systems...

Sweet gum on property line, HOs disagree on limb removal

It’s surely a weakly attached branch, looks like an epicormic that was left to grow. However, that’s a large wound at the trunk. These are the types of decisions that can make my head spin because there is no right answer. I would probably lean toward reducing the weight of that limb rather...

    Stupid stitches-Cut resistant gloves?

Correct. I guess to alleviate that you could have a long lanyard to a sling but even the crazy safety centric company I work for doesn’t have us do anything like that.

    Stupid stitches-Cut resistant gloves?

There’s two eyes on either side of the green line. One for the carabiner and the other fixes to the hook of the pole saw which keeps it on.

    Stupid stitches-Cut resistant gloves?

This is what we use at our offices. I did not realize it was that much money, but worth it I think. Put a carabiner on the eye and you can put on harness or store on a limb much safer
