I've often had the idea of selling cleanup "grades" that could be represented by pictures maybe. Grade "A" is like golf course green clean, nearly 100% of debris generated by the job is cleaned up, Grade "B" is less than 25% fines (define "fines" by largest particle size and smaller) left...
THIS! I saw a presentation a couple of years ago by a local professional, about prescription pruning. He spent the majority of the allotted hour explaining the pruning styles/types (natural, espalier, pleaching, pollarding...) to a room of certified arborists, then realized he was running out of...
This is a great thread! Matias, are you referring to thinning to favor the "king" or terminal fruiting bud? I think that's what you're talking about. This is done chemically in most orchards. I do think OP and tree owner are on the right track by preserving this tree. I think we often tend to...
And people like that always talk to you like you're the one who's unfamiliar with the equipment. I get this every time I go into a saw shop or even Vermeer to look at climbing gear.
Not to derail too far but this happened yesterday with a major bucket truck manufacturer's sales rep. We bought a new truck and he came by for the walk through, which seems like their insurance maybe requires, and I had to show him how to tip the bucket to empty it and how to engage the body prop.
I replaced mine when it started cracking like that and was really bummed to see the replacement begin to crack within 2 years with very minimal use and always stored away from UV light.
Great thread! I wish my 1390 was outfitted with the adjustable chute. My current chip truck has a kind of low roof chip box. So I can either buy the adj. chute kit from Bandit for $2600 or mod the chip box. I'll probably do the latter since it has the added benefit of more chip capacity.
