Yellow jacket teeth prices about tripled

Wow, that's crazy! I know tungsten carbide is expensive these days, but it shouldn't be that expensive. I wonder where those teeth are imported from? And how do Greenteeth compare?
 
I’m not a greenteeth fan but supposedly it is gonna hit all ot the manufacturers because of how much everything has went up even fuel is twice the cost of last year

Thank you. We haven't bought Greenteeth in a year or so as well, the Carlton we are running now has a Revolution wheel, and I don't know what the prices are like on those teeth right now compared to what they were.

That's funny, because I don't like yellow jackets. I like the greenteeth much better. I'm sure it's going to affect all the manufacturers, I just wonder if it is affecting some more than others. Or perhaps some are taking more advantage of the situation than others.

We almost only grind our own stumps, but I'd not be opposed to doing more retail or sub grinding.

I'd hate to go back to using a sub and having to deal with their schedule and such... plus with 165hp the typical 3-4' stump doesn't take very long.

We don't do any sub grinding, there are too many local grinders who charge two little for us to do that, but we do a fair amount of what you are probably calling retail grinding.

We only run an 80 hp grinder, but it still gets through our bigger stumps in a hurry. More horsepower would be nice, one day we might upgrade.

I ran an 85hp until I found a stupid deal on a new RG165 last September and bought it. After using it... I quickly decided I wasn't interested in running the 85hp, even as a backup.:LOL: Sold it earlier this year.
 
How far/deep do you guys chase the "volcano" surrounding the root flare? A city guy went about 1 ft around the stump, left about 3" of volcano with root about 2" under the volcano edge. I chased the hole about another 1 1/2 ft radially after he left so no volcano, some soil depth and level ground - it was my lawn! Neighbour actually has a lawnmower blade catcher sticking out. Last of the city ash trees :( RIP

I got set up with wet diamond wheel tooth sharpening. Save some $ but takes time

We grind beyond the flare. Depth wise we shoot for 12-15” below common grade (the area outside the flare) and chase roots until they’re small and deep enough to not be an issue.

That’s awesome! The prices for stump grinding is pretty low around here. Plus grinding here it’s almost a guarantee you are going to hit rocks. Five stumps smooth sailing next one caused $600 in damage. So I sub them out.

Oh we have a lot of rocks too, all limestone and granite, but the Revolution wheel seems to do pretty well with them. A lot better than the Greenteeth ever did.

If stumps weren't profitable, we wouldn't do them either. We started doing grindings removal and seeding last year too, we charge a premium for that, so it's quite profitable too, but the customer can save money if they want to have a landscaper do the cleanup.

What is retail grinding? What is sub grinding?
