Work Photos

When I saw this log on the job today, I knew it had be cut by the new guy... He's got 35 years experience worked for himself and lots of local big name contractors over the years.. still doesn't know bypass dutchman is. I tried to explain it to him very gently asking if he wants to learn something... As soon as I said that flat spot showed there was a bypass in the two face cuts, he blurted out "it was the saw's fault"..

I just laughedit was the saws fault.webp

Not much wood, three bits of metal to saw through, back cut against the fence, broke one fence board that was just pure luck. Had to rig out a few low large horizontals to fit it between deck and fence. In retrospect low limbs shuold have been left and fuck the fence up good.

I got to hit the easy button on this one. I love when I can call in the crane! I have some video from in the tree, but it wouldn't let me download it. Said it's to big.

These are from last winter/early spring. You have to love being up in the tree tops during a sudden snow squall. These trees were pretty tall for PA.

Been breaking in a new groundie/general helper lately. Great young man with a decent amount of experience running ropes, and he takes directions well, learns quickly, and is not afraid of hard work. Kid might just be a keeper!

Today was his first day working with the mill. We got into a few cool logs with some beautiful mild birds-eye.

Shit Rico, if I didn’t have kids or a wife I’d come down and work with you for a while, just for the lumber!

I would give you some free wood any time Evo?
I might take you up on that! It would be fun to see your show in action and get my hands dirty too. I don’t see myself leaving this little lump of glacial till floating in the water before winter sets.
Certainly once I’m a few hundred miles away I will hit you up!
