thank you all ! I'm coming out of the bad times. Evo, you sent me plenty of pictures of that tree ,then 2 or 3 years ago I turned an old dwarf tree (Chamaecyparis obtusa variety Nana) into that avatar tree of yours, best I could. It was my favorite plant. Then a freak rain and flood ravaged my property last summer and washed away my bonsai trees, :-( I never found that one, my favorite one. Lots of bad stuff hit us in like a 3 week period last summer, all while I was under intense stress. A neighbor shot a pet of ours too, I found him dying of infection and gun shot. had a terrible time last summer, I canceled X-Week and the party too. I just searched for my bonsai pictures, only found a few from the beginning, it looked awesome in 2015, these pictures from 2013....... First picture is YOUR tree, then my bonsai version (again, these were old pictures during transitions, it got much better looking with growth). how did I do a bonsai with no time? well, I can't be watering a thin tray bonsai every day like most of the owners do, so I made a bigger tray with more nutrients and it didn't need as much attention. That Chamaecyparis was around 15 years old when I bought it, upright, very full round puff ball of a tree. I thinned it out majorly the first year and planted in the ground, then the second year, cut it more, planted at an angle and bent and wired it's limbs. It was a real blow to loose something I put time into and enjoyed.
