...Presently, I get about 1000 page views per day on my site...

Mario. Are you serious? 1000 hits on your site per day? That's nuts! How and why are that many people visiting your site that often?

Individual pageviews.

Its from years of web presence. Part of it is signatures in posts. A lot, is advice pages. Originally, I started with a watering advice page for customers.

Later, my wife got parrots, and needed to know about safe and toxic woods for birds. The info was out there, but fragmented and incomplete due to mix-ups between common names and botanical names. So I used my training and a few calls to avian vets to sort our the facts, and posted a safe woods for birds page. Turns out to be one of the best known, according to breeders and other folks who email me. That page really increased traffic, and was the first page that got me to thinking about putting Google ads on all my pages that were not services related. Then the content kept building. And generally, even on SEO forums, its said that "content" drives referral and traffic.

My visitor number is roughly half the pageview number. So 1000 pageviews per day is about equal to 500 visitors per day.

Mario. So, you're saying you get 1000 "impressions" per day, right? You're not getting 1000 actual clicks to your page... Otherwise, you'd have the phone ringing off the hook.

Is that what you're saying?

The greater bulk of the pageviews are on the advice pages and the image albums. When I posted the other day, I mentioned like 1000 pageviews per day. You can see it hit almost 1200 pageviews on the 15th, in the image I posted. Last summer, I think near 1500 pageviews was the highest on a single day. Next year's high may be 2000 pageviews.

The site is presently generously supplying extra work. 5 years ago, it used to bring maybe 5% extra work. Now its bringing 2/3 of my work so that I can let go by the way side other stuff I did not care for much like flyers, news ads, etc..

Also, a few other companies get referrals from my site. Its more or less supplying about 1.5 small companies worth of work. So definitely not ringing off the hook. Just a nice trickle that fits my need right now. And enough from Google Adsense to cover web hosting a few times over.

The have been little tips shared from others that incrementally help. On man suggested, when possible, posting images that have my website URL in the corner, not just the copyright.

Its been a big help that I don't have to pay either, and that the site is somewhat of a hobby.
