Trees from a distance

If you were following the thread, the clues sort of led to what it might be...

1.) Prunus

2.) Not cerasifera or spinosa

3.) Not commonly available at nurseries, except in small containers (BIG HINT).

...Not many Prunuses (Pruni?) are in this category. So I thought that would do it. :)

I was imagining a Home Depot or Walmart parking lot with the little fruit tree whips for sale. Had I really tried I might have come up with that, although I'd say "crappy little prunus species" was a pretty solid guess anyways. :P
