Hollen would have respected you more if it was a cheap poke. you should have left it a that

Yeah, maybe...
but until I meet the man I won't be 'cheap poking' him (or anyone for that matter).

That's where I'm 'old school'. I got that from my grandparents. I've got to hear your voice, shake your hand and look you in the eye... then we can 'cheap poke' each other.

Communication between people is difficult enough without adding "the internet" where innuendos get confused all too often even among those who DO know each other!!

And life is too short for wasting time on misunderstandings IMO.

wow, this stinks, Diane is close.

I was getting on here tonight to say that there was going to be prize money for getting this one right.

but she's so close, so soon, it's not going to be that much fun.

so, here's the fruit picture already.

yes, a really old time fruit that seems to be forgotten.

Really different, so I think I'm going to buy one for our property.

If you weren't so good so fast Diane, you could have been $20 richer.

your up.

I'll have to try to win, because I took some more pictures yesterday of another very interesting "fruit" tree.

later,

Sorry to take away your fun, Xman.
But it was like having a really good poker hand and I HAD to play it.

Actually, I'm going to be gone for awhile so that was my slam dunk!

Well, there's a reason for that and you'll soon find out once you plant it and get the fruit.

Floor is open.

Cheers everyone!

REALLY?

I'm told, let the first frost hit it, or I read, pick them and blett them in the freezer, and the fruit is good.

people used to eat it with cheeze and such.

kinda like an apple sauce.

what is it that you know?

that one is very difficult. I've never spent so much time on one of these.

right away, it reminded me of Ailanthus leaves, something exotic. Looks like evenly pinnately compound leaves.

and that rough shaggy bark....

I thought those distint clues would be an easy find on the internet. So that got me started looking.

No.

Hours later.... when I shouldn't have. I looked at a million compound leaf species, too many times stupid hickory kept coming up, but I strongly felt it isn't a hickory. Then when looking up even pinnately compound leaves and a million more sites and pictures.

I have a REAL hard time quiting when I start something.

I found one that had similar bark and leaf.

Chinese Pistachio, now i can go to bed.

I figure you saw it at some New York Garden/botanical place. Chinese Pistacio is cold hardy, so that's my pick.

tell me I'm right.... please....
