oh, mahogany family.

and I looked at some of them too.

ahhh, i remember this "toon" tree being on here now.

Toona sinensis, Chinese Mahogany, also called the Toon Tree.

supposed to be very cold hardy.

what do you think of this tree. Is it a good one to own?

X, you got it. TreeD, I think that assessment is wrong... I believe it can handle colder, possibly zone 5 or even 4.

I am becoming a fan of this tree, it is pretty cool! The young leaves are edible, it has medicinal properties, and it may even make a decent street tree!

none of those, not even close.

okay, further hints, maybe.

this customer came from Texas, she dug this tree up and brought it with her.

put in on the south side of the house hoping it would survive the winters.

it' has and does produce fruit here.

I checked some fruit websites, and many of these are cold hardy enough for Pennsylvania/ new jersey.

really cool. now i want to order soon.

i would not have guessed they could live in Maryland.

oh gosh dang it, where is Diane, she'd get this!

usually redish fruit, sold in stores, lots on antioxidnets, or however you spell that.

red little fleshy juicy seeds thingies inside that you eat.

anyone, anyone, anyone?????

begins with a P!

Pomegranate?

X, the problem with this particular one is that it's an ugly little stressed out shrubbish thing in a crappy spot. As much of an interesting tree as it may be, it's fugly and weak looking with very few 'tree' characteristics. Sorry to be blunt.
