Tree Counting?

I am currently on a job being paid per tree trimmed, many of the trees I am trimming are splitting at base or near base height, I am wondering is there a standard for counting trees. Could this split tree be counted as two. Any refrence would be helpfull. Thanks

Call them stems.

Or call them trees. It depends.

I had a contract go south and the admin guy said i could write a change order, adding tree removals. Any sprouted acorn that we pulled went into the tally.

I've had similiar jobs. Usually if it splits chest high or lower it can count as separate trees.

Thanks scott, I would need to show the engineer on the job something in writing. is this your opinion or could i find this refrenced anywhere.

I have no reference for it. It is just the way we set up our contract for per tree jobs.
