Today....

The worlds largest known lava flow covers eastern Washington and half of eastern Oregon flowing out to the pacific on the central Oregon coast. Then there were up to 7 giant floods from lake Missoula... my favorite reference to the wet side of the mountains is that the coastal pnw is the worlds largest temperate jungle. For some reason that really puts it in perspective for me

I couldnt stand to work in the rain all the time. Just like I can't stand to work in 98*, 80% humidity all the time either. But the views are beautiful! My brother finished his Navy career on Whidbey.

Little know fact is that we have manzinta grown between port angles and port Townsend, here on Whidbey we have prickly pear cacti. Up on Orcas they have a unique species of juniper. The thoughts are they managed to survive in a valley on the northern edge of the peninsula during the last iceage with this area was covered in ONE MILE thick ice sheet. Strange to think that out 1000’ year old trees are just 7-10 generations in.
That’s the coolest thing of learned all day!

Alturna-links are good.

As always, steeper than it looks.

Topping maples is bad.
The main trunk is plenty rotten.

real deal 1946 military jeep with a little flathead in it....No power but will climb a tree....
I love those old Jeeps. I had a (my father’s) ‘56 CJ7 in my garage for a couple years. He has the stretcher carrier version, so it was a longer than normal Jeep. Had a pto driven winch on the front, and someone had added a rear pto as well to run a bush hog. It wasn’t road legal at the time, so I used to take it out around the back yard on occasion, it was fun just to run around the yard.

It too had no horsepower, but it had enough torque to do about anything!

dang Rico, looks like I need to get pics of my dads 52' Allis Chalmers CA and 71' FJ40

FJ needs rebuilt tractor is great, and torque for days
have had it for four years, never once had it in the shop to fix it other than maintenance
