Today....

There’s nothing quite like the right tool in the right workspace. Reminds me of some tables I got from a manufacturing business that was shutting down and liquidating. They has some heavy tables with all sorts of holes drilled and tapped in the top for all the fixtures. They ended up being more than sturdy enough for me but allowed crazy clamping and holding options for welding and general repairs. I miss that thing. Hope yours get well used!
That, and having a father daughter day! My little ones really love shuffling trucks around in the yard, or helping run the excavator. Gotta keep them aware of what all we get up to from dawn to dusk.

She's a biggun. I forgot to mention, 21 cables under the canopy including a high voltage and transformer I had insulated for the job.
I love the grapple pic. Made me think of ‘Kids in the Hall’ skit, I’m crushing your head.

Quite a job though. Long lateral material is almost more challenging than something tall and narrow, especially when dealing with all the hazards. Nice job!

I always hate to see such magnificent trees go away, especially for the wrong reasons. Don't know what the reason is for this one to go away, just saying. The biggest reason around here is "I can't get my grass to grow."
That one pisses me off too. Who needs grass?!? I get close to biting clean through my tongue when people say that it's just so messy, and they are tired of cleaning up tge mess almost everyday, like that's some kind of requirement.

Yea lawns are definitely an old status symbol. The varieties people plant aren't even from this continent.

Fighting the nutrient haul off is a hill I am willing to die on.

That's a helluva tree! Just curious why they wanted it gone entirely and not just pruned back nicely? Did it drop a big limb on something special?
He didn't give me a reason, but I know it's not the lawn over here as it's a rental he owns.

It is full of wounds like in the one Pic and deadwood. I've been here a few times over the years removing deadwood and broken limbs.

I'm sure he has a reason. It still hurts a little to see such a tree cut down. It was there longer than any of us has been alive, and now it's just a tall stump and a bunch of chips

Guess I should have offered to whack it

Could have ruined someone’s day

We had a similarly sized Silver Maple go down in town over a month ago. The trunk is still lying there right along the top of a steep bank above the sidewalk. The crown is gone but the heavy trunk remains. While arguably stable, I’m about to offer removal pro-bono.
