Today....

It got really windy last night with really heavy sporadic rain, this is the same house with the cars and other fallen trees. This one came down last night got it stripped down a bunch and a lot of weight taken off before calling it at about 130 today since we were soaked and it was significantly safer than when we started going to check things out tomorrow and see if we can get the rest out it's tricky since the weight is mostly supported over the roof by the ends of the last big spars instead of the roof it's self.

Craning out some sweet gum over a garage and utitlty service lines. My 17 year old nephew untied the picks on the ground.. my crew all still on vacation until next Monday! Then I replaced a burnt relay holder in back of my easy lift. It was for counter clockwise rotation 20221228_121607.jpg20230105_115212.jpg20230105_120749.jpg20230105_120715.jpg

That guy may turn into a tree hater.

Yeah I guess if that was the last tree that could hit his house he’s got nothing to worry about now. But he’s for sure had more than his share of bad tree behavior
There's 1 more but after the first night almost everything on the house side of it got broken off and it's a pretty straight tree.
Yea he had some bad tree behavior for sure wasn't surprised about this one but the others were pretty straight trees.

Sometimes when you dont have enough crane capacity, you have to get creative. We had to cut in and stack cribbing to lift the tree off the house with a 30 ton jack. We were then able to crane out the rest of what was inside the house and have the remaining tree not fall on the house. We had to cut small pieces off at a time next. Unfortunately, the brick fence is very much in the way.

How did the bar get bent if you dont mind me asking? Do you like the MB saddle so far?

Don't mind at all, that's why I shared it. I was taking down a rotten 7' snag by just making a single low cut straight through, leaving a tiny bit holding, then pushing it over. I've done the move a million times where I push the snag over with one hand and pull the saw out of the kerf with the other, but this time the tip got pinched, the snag went a bit sideways and caught the tip that was sticking out the back side, bent it right over and grabbed the saw out of my hand. Tons of ways I could have avoided it if I'd just spent an extra minute choosing a different technique or set it up slightly different.

As for the MB 2.0, I literally got it the night I posted that photo, haven't had time to even try it on yet, then I left for a trip the next morning. I'll watch some of their videos on the features/adjustments, then migrate my gear off my MB 1.0 maybe over the weekend. Once I've had some time in it, I'll be sure to report my impressions.
