throw lines

It seems like a 5 gallon bucket would take up a lot of space, SpaceGost. We have been using the Fold & Hold cubes from Sherrill the past couple of years. They fold up flat and fit just about anywhere. Plus they are only $16.

Fold and Holds are too floppy for my tastes. I personally use a Bollie Bag.

The bucket is a good $1.99 soloution that doubles as gear storage and is rigid.

I'm sure there are as many opinions on throwline storage as there are arborists.

You can sawzall a 5 gallon bucket down to a one or 2 gallon bucket, file down the rough edges and rig a little top for it. Saves a little space. the fold and holds i agree, a little floppy, It needs a rigid bottom.

We tried the fold n hold but they aren't tough enough. I dig the Faltheimer or the Sherrill Falseheimer. Anything that doesn't fold down takes up too much space on the trucks.

the Fold&Hold Deluxe Cube from sherrill is on sale from $49 to $37. i dont have any complaints on the cheap one but i would defently think this one would be worth the $$$. i recently purchase the new dynaglide and I am very pleased with it.

Too cheap for it??? Jeeeezzz, check out all that iron you have. I tell you, that falltimer is the best $70 you will ever spend. It will pay you in time.

thanks let me try yours to see if ill like it

Another option is to take an extension cord reel and reel the line around it just as if you would an extension cord. Takes a bit of time to spool it off before using the line but it does keep it readily available and neat and does not take up much space.

I have a falteimer. Its funny because I both feel it was an absolute robbery and I'm a sucker. On the other hand I really like it. I keep on pretending like I am going to make one out of a couple of old fishing poles I have lying around yet....

I made one last week using the poles that are stuck into lawns. I got this idea from a fellow co worker who made one just the same and I've got around $20 in it and some time on the sewing machine but it's not a bad idea.

The FalseHeimer is pretty good, but Friday I noticed that one of the vertical rods had poked through its stitching. But if its on sale.... Maybe we need another one.

I use a 3 gallon bucket (like a 5 gallon but shorter) and it also doubles as a safe and protected storage container for my BigShot head. Otherwise my bigshot would be unprotected and the rubber would get nicked and torn. It is an important piece of gear for me so I make room for it.

Use a small bucket, that has a handle, like the ones that cat litter comes in, they are bright color (yellow) and be ruff and tuff, you can glue a hook on the side as suggested for a tie off point, they are great for throw rope and easy to stack a few should you need to.

cheap and each,

have fun
