Avant Thread!

My 635 has the 1505. Knock on wood, trouble free. My biggest complaint is that my local Kubota dealer can answer any questions about it because they’re a “tractor dealer not an engine dealer” It’s also hard to start in the cold. Not uncommon for diesel I know, but more so than it should be. Granted, it’s stored outside and doesn’t have a block heater. It has also survived being on it’s side I certainly wouldn’t hesitate to buy another one and I’d love a 640. I bought mine used with over 1000 hours and it’s nearing 1500 now. Always finding additional uses for it as well
Both of my Kubota’s are very cold blooded I have to preheat at 50 degrees but even in negative temps once preheated they fire right up.

Fuel filter and maybe a inline screen?

I’ve never had a load of wood catch fire when hauling but once had 40 bale of straw catch due to spontaneous combustion.
Crazy stuff but had a cement truck blowing his horn at me and signaling for me to pull over by the time I did I had probably 12’ flames so I dumped it on the side of the road it saved the truck only thing the seat belt did catch fire when I jumped out before thinking about dumping it.

After the fire truck put out the fire my pops made us load it into three truck and we still spread it on a a fresh seeded field lol

That seed germinated and grew like no other.
Funny now but what a dirty nasty day!

Ignition source? Saw muffler?
That’s exactly what I thought Merle!
He told me the fire was coming from inside the log , according to the account of the fire department. Hold onto your hat for this one! After chatting about it with them it was determined a probable cigarette butt -his careless worker was trying to litter out the window and it blew into the trailer when he flicked it out , landed in the log and got it going!!! Another funny part my friend explaining that a beautiful woman pulled up next to him to notify him he was smokin, his reply was right back at ya babe!! She’s like , no your trailer it’s got smoke billowing out!! IMG_0322.webp

That reminds me of one high end vineyardist client I had. He had a well drilled to get more water to pump out to his vines. He asked the crew to not smoke on his property as it was a dry time of year and dry area in general. While drilling they hit a pocket of gas...at which point one of the operators wished he would have been complying with said agreement. He got burned badly.

Has anyone had issues with their attachments falling off the plate? Avant is coming back from the shop tomorrow. They couldn't find why it's happening but I lost the bm grapple, avant grapple, and the bm stump grinder the last 2 months. Springs are good, no damage to the plate or attachments. Avant, understandably, doesn't want to cover warranty as it's not replicated on demand. Not sure what to do. Machine just needs to last a couple more months until we start improvements this year.

We don't run a Avant, but have seen that problem with skid loaders. Usually it happens when the very top edge of the plate start to wear a little bit. A layer of hard face on the point at the top of the plate has always cured that for us.

The other cause of that problem I have seen on skid loaders is the locking lever pivot bolts, if they are not tight enough the locking levers can work their way upwards and unlatch themselves. Same problem, and it only happens at seemingly random intervals.

I had it on my Multione a few years back, I was on full reach up high with a fixed grab angled up to pull a branch out of some bamboo.
A fixed grab (150 odd kilos off solid metal) detached itself and rolled down the arm towards me in the cab, only the hydraulic hoses stopped it from squishing me.

In the end we worked out I’d switched implements without flicking down the pins.
I think that is the case very often when people “swear blind” that they did flick the pins down.

Ours beeps if the pins aren't down.

Incessantly. I get it! I'm just switching implements! I know!

But where I wish it would continue to beep is if a pin misses the hole and doesn't go down...I'd like it to keep beeping then. When I bought it, the dealer suggested always tipping it down to take a peek at that. Or watch the little bars on the top side. It's missed once or twice...attachment just needed a shake to move like 1/8" and slip down. Never had both pins miss. I wonder if pins missing the holes could be the cause of the suggest problems.
