This is the Akimbo

I have so much stuff I need to have a yard sale. I'm trying not to buy anymore doubles of anything until the Akimbos come out.
What a dumb idea Frank! What if one breaks, you loose it, someone wants to borrow it... come on man, keep it real. You need more.
Yeah Frank, what if 3 or 4 of your friends want to borrow them at the same time...you need 4 or 5 of every piece of gear. Also once you get set with that I will buy them cheap off of you because who the heck needs 5 duplicates. I can't wait to see this yard sale!!!!

Fluffy your not climbing on true dynamic lines anymore are you? I can almost guarantee it will not work with any of them.

Nope. I gave those up, haha. (letting go of my rock climbing background has been a difficult journey for me!) I am just searching for a device that can be used on 9mm rope in a ropewalking system where I don't have to switch back and forth between my mechanical ascender and grigri.

I would love to be able to rope walk up to my tip then use the same device in a RADS system while playing in the canopy but I am not willing to give up the low weight of my 9mm line in order to do that.

Do it! You will find it worth it!

You have intrigued me. I travel long distances carrying my gear (example: biking 60 miles with all of my climbing and camping gear strapped to my bike) so an extra few pounds and the added bulk will make a huge difference in my ability to visit far-away places. Aside from the fact that I could use a Rope Walker, Rope Wrench, BullDogBone, etc what would be the benefits? Or is that a good enough reason to make the switch?

(sorry, I don't intend to hijack the thread!)

Fluffman, I don't know exactly what your set up is, but needing different pieces of gear to go up, then down, and for a RADS set up seems like it potentially addsorw weight.
I'm not saying anything I suggest is better than what you have set up, but you may find it better to pack a 11mm+ sized rope and use less to do what you want. Might not save weight in any way, but might be able to have gear you can do more with cause it's compatible with the rope and not add any/much weight

Get some Velocity or Blaze. So light, durable, and less stretch than dynamic ropes.

Don't worry about offending me, I am here to become a better climber even if that means I have to admit that EVERYTHING I do is wrong ;)

When I stop to think about it there are multiple advantages of having a thicker rope (like inspiring confidence! haha) so I need to sit down and calculate the weight differences between both options.

BUT THE BEST OPTION is if someone would make a device that works with 9mm ropes for the weight-conscious rec climbers like myself. :D

Exactly, do more with less of the right stuff rather than carrying more of the wrong stuff. How long is your 9mm?

Haha, well said Richard! I have two 9mm ropes. One is 60 feet long and is used strictly for ultra light tree camping adventures where the goal is to sleep above 40-50 feet. My second rope is 200 feet long and was purchased so I can climb the biggest trees in MN. I was going to cut it shorter but after watching some of your videos I fell in love with doing midline tips and using both ends of the rope for random stuff. When I climb big trees I really enjoy having extra rope to play with.
