The latest Matt Cornell harness

I do love tinkering and Matt's saddles sure make it easy. As long as the backpad and legpads fit your body type I see almost no reason why one wouldn't be able to get their saddle setup just about perfectly for their climbing style and needs.

That current set up looks like the most efficient one you've posted! I may need to try and find me an old MCRS on the Treebay thread! Nice job @rico!!

I've got 2 on the shelf.
Don't get rid of your MCRS's.. You will regret it Steve...

I am still in the honeymoon stage with my Valiant, but at this point, with the same configuration, I would take a MCRS over the Valiant.. This is a testament to the virtues of the MCRS and not a knock on the Valiant. Things may change as the Valiant breaks in, but there is something very special about the way the backpad and the leg pads on the MCRS fit my frame.....Best I have experienced to date...

You’ve got a good point I didn’t think about. It was the perfect saddle for me

Any objections to using sterling superstatic2 kernmantle 10mm nylon/nylon through the back pad and leg pads?
I see most are using polyester or better fibers but I got a lot of the superstatic2 that's brand new and I think the 10mm fits well?

I'm pretty good at splicing 3 strand and I'd love to use that to make it looks real old school but I worry that it would be too abrasive to the harness and cause premature wear...

I spliced up a friends Valiant with New England vintage 3 strand-

A beautiful 3 strand and the saddle turned out really nice. Can't believe I didn't get a picture. The strength on the 3/8" 10mm was around 3500 lbs...I spliced up a flipline with the 5/8" version of this rope and it is my current go to flip-line.....

Soft lay should be just fine. If you can get your hands on it get some 4 strand

MCRS owners- do you treat the leather interior? If so, what do you use? Mine is hanging for a while, and I don’t want the leather to degrade.
