Log splitter with capstan winch

Huh, never seen a log lifting solution like that before, seems pretty functional. That said, I use a hydraulic splitter in a vertical setup, and never have to lift the logs off the ground in the first place... then just toss the split pieces into the truck from the seated position I'm already in. Seems to me you lose more time lifting the wood up than you save by the splitting wedge moving fast.

It's really nothing fancy. I buck rounds and make a pile of them off to my right that I can reach either by hand or with a pickaroon, sit on a stump with the vertical splitter in front of me, and have the truck close on the left side to throw the split wood into. The pile off to the right is debris: bark I split off and knotty pieces that don't stack well. Then I can back the filled truck right up to the woodshed.
