Texas tree climbing championship

Hey can anyone recommend a decent (only slightly flea ridden) hotel/motel close to the event? Bear in mind that my wife (2 time Ohio chapter competitor) will be accompanying me to the sunny state of Texas. I guess that counts out the usual bar and strip joint parking lots. Just kidding on the strip joint lots LOL.

What day are you coming? Ya'll can crash at our house Gotta couple couches and a love seat.We are staying at a hotel on Friday. Maybe we could trade some splicing for a Hotel and some sushi.

Ethan looks like the next world champ, what is he like 4 or 5 in that picture. You pulled 17s today and i pulled a hernia i guess we are goin in different directions.God is good.

How about goin to that national chapion Pecan in weatherford.Rusty knows the way, we could get all the Fort worth boys out there.
Rich do you know what time your arriving Friday, hopefully I can learn a little splicing.

I think the plan is to arrive on Thursday, though I have absolutely no clue as to what time. I would like to drive it straight through so that we can get there earlier, but my better half might veto that idea. We may stop in on Noel and Kristian in MO on the way down as well as the way back to break up the trip a bit and to kidnap both of them and bring them with us, but who knows for now.

Anyway we will do our best to get to Texas as soon as possible. I would love to go over some splicing with you and Abram, so hopefully we can make some time for it.

I can't believe it is time already i am so stoked i look foward to seeing everybody and meeting new people. They say the trees are nice. They say 78 to 80 fri and sat nice weather.Rich you hang on to that snow grab Noel and them bring them down that would be sweet.

I can assure you that there is no need to "talk" Kristian into coming down, that man would volunteer till his last breath to help out a fellow climber. Hopefully he will have time in his schedule to make it.

Does Rich have a map of ALL the local sushi places before he selects the lodging?

You had better believe it

Almost always the food is more memorable than the lodging (at least the places I get stuck in anyway) so a AAA guide to good sushi spots would be far more valuable to me than the hotel/motel list.

Man its a good thing for that nice sleeveless shirt in your pic. It spruces up a very unflattering pose.

Are we going to see you in Texas JerseyGirl? If so, come join us for some sushi.

If I show up at any of the competitions - it will be with camera and laptop in hand, a long extension cord, loads of batteries and memory cards. Love the candid shots. Need more "Pictures" so I can play with photostitch

I've only been west of the Mississippi river once and that trip was a blast. Thoughts are for the New Hampshire competition in June - then drive up to Mount Washington and attempt to hike the ridge lines or bicycle that area. Then stop in New Jersey on the way back home for a visit with family and friends.

Maybe a little research with AAA for such a guide - there another job for you - splicing sushi sampler.

Sounds like either place will be fun and well worth the time.

I have to commend everyone who showed up, spectated, helped out, and most of all competed.

Folks showing good sportsmanship, excitement, willingness to challenge themselves- whether they met them here or will step up another day. Yes, broken hearts and disappointments are part of what this is about, too.

But y'all got outta bed, ate your wheaties (and those great burgers, fajitas, dogs, and veggies served up), and gave it a good run. Safe, too.

This grove was particularly challenging, due the the height and age of the trees. 70 feet was not unusual. And good event set up to help simulate realistic compromise. Hey, the Master's of Golf isn't held at a driving range.

Hey Texas KNOWS how to do it. Rich, Toni and I were treated like Royalty. Thanks to everyone for having us down. It was a major highlight in my career and with my recent life change it was just what I needed. You can pen me in for next year and remember...climb from your heart! Whiz
p.s. any and all pictures posted would be appreciated.

We were lucky to have Rich and Kristian as guests this year. Not only did they help out with the logistics, but they brought a lot of energy to the events and got the crowd more excited about what was happening. Rich also showed his tie-in innovations to everyone who would listen, and many of us did. I'll be thinking about this as I decompress from the events and you may be hearing from me soon, Rich.

Congrats to Vicente Navarro for his first TX win. He was the only one to complete the very difficult Master's in the time allotted. As a former (and maybe future) competitor, I was glad I didn't have to work that hard!

And, as always it was good to see old friends and swap ideas. If there is anyone here who hasn't attended a TCC, you should make it happen ASAP.
