Subarctic Arborists!

The 2 of us worked our tails off to be done in 5 days, needless to say, Ian slept for most of the 14 hour ride home....................the end!

For 2 days it was around -26 with the wind chill................no bar anywhere in town, but we brought a little hooch of our own. I used to be a boy scout so I am always prepared. /forum/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Craig;
How's that V2 Bod holding up?
I just bought one and used it for the first time this past Friday for some line dancing.
Do you use that sternal D at all?

Kevin,

Mine is the Petzl Boss, the V2 Bod is a totally different saddle. I have been using it for over 3 years and I love it. It was a little bit of a pain to first put on and adjust but now I am used to it. I have bridged the front 2 rings, so it now acts like a floating D saddle. My lower back is pretty much toast from packing firewood for many years and the mini-boss' wide back pad and shoulder straps really give me the support I need. The butt strap has a alloy pad sewn into it so it is extremely comfortable to sit in. There is no rear D on this saddle, only a front D, which I use to attach my rigging line when moving about the tree prior to rigging. I do have another new line of Petzl saddle which I use for little climbs. It goes on and off real quick but does not have the comfort of the Boss.

can i see how you have bridged the harness, i was thinking about doing that (if i get one) but wasnt too sure if it was possible

Thanks Craig, I just did a retake and see the difference.
I needed a combination fall arrest and positioning saddle and went with the V2 , it has the ANSI rating.
Thanks for posting the pictures.

Here is a paint version of how I bridged the saddle. The rope bridge is there, it is just hard to see in the original photo. The saddle sucks for work when just being attached to the front rings. Bridging them is the only way to go with this saddle. I am going to bridge it with stainless shackles and a long quick draw (Like Nick's bridge) and eliminate the rings but have not done it yet.

The straps on the V2 were cutting into my gut while hanging from the joist in the basement but it helps to get the body belt down lower on the butt.
I didn't notice any discomfort when I used it the other day at work.

did you bridge it from the rings circled in blue, or the side d's in red

My guess, he did it to the blue rings...

THAT WAS AN AWESOME TRIP!!!! I am quite jealous.

Honestly, at a glance those trees don't look like you did much to them. If we inspect the picture closely, I am sure we can find the differences, but most people won't look that close when they drive by.

Nice work.
