Stihl Trousers

Re: SIP Trousers

The ones that I have are very comfortable. Stylish too. Don't know how they make my butt look though /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

One of the guys who demo'd the red pants said that he preferred the chaps. thought they were cooler. Those pants have the previous generation of protection. The black ones have thinner but better protection. Last week I gave the red ones to one of the guys on our wrecking crew. After he's worn them for a few days I'll give him the black pair for a side by side comparison.

Here's a link to the company that makes the SIP clothing:

Re: SIP Trousers

Whats with the Europeans and rainbow stitching? My Butterfly II has rainbow stitches and Toms SIP pant picture has rainbow stitching. Doesn't bother me, but I'm trying to picture some of the guys around here with it on! /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Those pants look really nice, any idea on price US$.?

Re: SIP Trousers

I like the rainbow thread.

No idea what the US $ cost will be. I think that there will be one or two US distributors. If I hear any more news I'll let you know.

Re: SIP Trousers

I asked the guy from SIP about the rainbow stitching and he gave a good reason for using it....

He said that the cones and rods in our eyes get bored looking at, say, something of all one color such as all white or black stitching in this case. By alternating the colors, your eyes stay interested and you would be less likely to miss a defect in the stitching. Made sense to me!

Maybe they should make rainbow suspenders to match the pants....

Mark is correct. We (Sherrill) will be selling the SIP pants. Or rather, we ARE selling the SIP pants. We currently have them in stock and they will be in our 2005 catalog. They are not available online yet, so please call for pricing and availability. 1-800-525-8873

I got my new stihl chainsaw trousers two weeks ago and sent them back after two days due to them being full of holes!

I've heard today that stihl will replace them, no worries. (there would have been some strong words if they hadn't) They are interested in why they failed and said to carry on with the new pair as usual and let them know how I get on. Basically I ripped the leg on a tiny stub while slipping un stylishly down a branch. I thought to myself, "that was stupid better sew it up when I get home."

Got home and took them off and noticed that the seat had worn through, not ripped but worn through after two days!! The seat is single layer, whereas the SIP's have a reinforced seat and mine aren't worn through after 9 months.

If anyone in the UK has trouble with these trousers they should send them back ASAP, stihl need to know whats going on. It is of course possible that this was a one off unfortunated occurrance. My new ones arrive tomorrow so we'll see.

Don't know much about that one, when is it etc?

My only plan so far is the climbing weekend/comp in staffordshire.

think its the 22nd-23rd of april, nod told me about it a couple of days ago, first id heard of it. its called the festival of trees, i dont know a huge ammount about it though, i shall attend though.
whats the date of the staffordshire meet

The zip went after about two weeks! It looked like there was a bit missing at the bottom so it would open itself from the bottom up about twenty times a day. A bit embarrassing when talking to customers! Lucky I don't go commando!

I left them in the shed for a while and carried on using my SIP's. At the trade show in June I took them to Stihl. They gave me another pair straight away which is what I expected. I then sold that new pair straight away the same day. I'm sure I just had bad luck with them but twice bitten etc.

Anyway I now have a pair of stretcharse from pfanner. I think I should have got them a long time ago!!
