Personally, I like the Vectran for feel. The Amsteel tends to "wire out" or stiffen as braid goes under tension. Acting and feeling stiff like a cable or wire. It picks and fuzzes like mad too.

I got a little carried away. It's rated at 4900lb mbs. The way I figure, the ascender would fail/sheer main line before nano frog would break.

I even thought about using 1/8 Vectran (12.5 kn). It'd be like climbing on a shoelace! I'll admit, I did pick up 15 ft of it, just in case

I cannot find the ring in the uk.

I bought an 78mmx8mm stainless one the check it out, and I can buy upto 12mm stainless.

whats the dimensions of those ones?

Spliced this for a "monkey tail" out of 8mm ocean and tried it out this afternoon with the rope wrench for descending off a spar- it was pretty sweet!
