Show off them splices

Thanks Eric. I use the samson class 1 instructions. I have not yet tried any lube although I definitely need to if I want to be able to use my hands in five years! The final bury never gives me too much trouble, it is usually the core bury that gets me.

I got stuck on the core bury last night on this used cougar. No budge in either direction, no bueno.

If you caught the core with the fix on the way in to expose it and grab the tapered core end, it will surely lock up. Maybe that happened?

When you do that tuck, that's where the lube works it's magic. My wire fid has an eye on it so I can hang it from a solid point and use two hands for the tuck. One hand massages the cover down and the other ensures that the main core inside the tuck can still slide free, which also seems to help the tuck slide in.

Before pulling the tuck in, I let the fid hang and put a couple drops of dish soap onto the two parallel fid wires and it runs right down to the point of the taper (also called the bullet). It sorta works like those chain link down spouts on houses, and directs the soap right to the bullet. That splice will finish like a champ.

That one is a 10 footer with a 2' (24") eye.

I thought the eye was kinda big, but all the production models seem to have a 2' eye. Makes sense though since it is used for tying either a klemheist or kreutzklem (upside down klemheist) knot

Oh, and it's 3/8" tenex-tec

Thanks for that ill tackle it for my next project.

Here's a footlock prussik I whipped with 8mm armorprus, the poly one.
This stuff was a treat to splice, tucks and buries very smooth.

17.5 inch eye, 57 inches overall.

Sweet evo, that imori is nice to splice.
So how did YOU do the pinto tenex splice? Both locked Brummells?
Still like to here the definitive on that thread....

[/ QUOTE ]

It is possible to do locking brummels on both eyes, You do the first then unweave and reweave the other to make the locking brummel.

There is a thread on here somewhere with greater details.
