Sena headsets.

Is the "tuff talk" also a Sena product, or is it made by a different company? Thanks in advance for any answer you choose to give.

Tim

Yup a sena product! And it links with the 10s with no issues.

Has anyone had any success getting 4 units connected? I've tried Nick's video and it doesn't seem to get us were we need to go. And if anyone (not just the hub) kicks out for noise issues it messes the whole setup up. It's not very often I need four connected and usually we live with 3 and they work flawlessly.

I am looking to buy the 10R dual pack today, I have 2 questions, 1, will 1 battery last a normal day of work and chit chat, 2 I am assuming I don't have to pair it/ go through my phone to talk to others. My phone is a smart phone , bu the battery is a joke and doesn't last a full day, plus I don't like keeping it on me when in the tree. I don't really want it to go through the phone. I believe I've been told the units work independent of phones.
They'll last 8- 10 hours easy.

I have 2 sets of 4 units ( for 2 crews ) paired them all the day I got them and haven't had to re pair them since, that was 4 years ago.

I ordered the 10R dual pack yesterday to set up 2 helmets, a Kask plasma, and a Petzl Vertex best. Didn't order extra batteries as I figured one should be good. I just don't know how it charges, will it come with 2 charges, or is it standard micro USB type that I have extras of.

I think I bought the 10-10, accidentally. Couldn't succeed pairing it.

Jobber had a rep involved in a Jobber thread. Maybe there could be a Sena rep in a dedicated Sena thread, if someone has a bit of time for such legwork to contact Sena.

10r dual set comes with 2 usb micro charger cords, as well as 2 auto receptacle usb micro chargers.

When I was in the due-diligence phase and gathering information, I just called Sena and asked questions to try to reach a conclusion about which device would be best. Personally, I'd rather get the information straight from the manufacturer. I had a bit of difficulty getting my device to pair with my phone initially. Another quick call to Sena customer service sorted that out.

Cool. Did you use Nick's method? I only have two sets right now and my problem might be that I am always trying to connect with others (contract climbers and crane operators). I wonder if I get two more, factory reset them all and start over fresh. Thanks!

I haven't really watched that video, but when we turn them ( I have all mine numbered or my guys know which number they are ) on I always start with mine which is number 1, then 2 turns on, then 3, then 4 which is usually the crane op. If we aren't using the crane and have a 4th guy we unclip the Sena from the crane headset and stick it on their helmet. When we are using the crane, instead of the guy chipping bonking on and off, risking bonking out the rest of us or throwing another radio off ( sometimes happens) he just unclips the Sena and puts it in a safe place until they are done chipping so the rest of us don't have to listen to the chipper! Usually the crane is set up not to far from the chipper so the guys chipping just use hand signals with the crane op.

What's Nick's video on paring. Where do I see this piece.of education. Lol. Although I have watched one, but I think it was an August video

That was helpful. I was/ am having the issue that we parked the units, but when we shut them off and them back on, we can't hear each other. I think we have to press the center button once to link it back, like a bump back in
Have to try that this weekend.

We're giving it a go on our first job with them tomorrow. Hoping the "tap " in remembers all our settings, like the noise control setting. Straight out if the box it pucks up everything. But once we activated the noise control, it only SEEMED to pick up our voice when the mic was right at our mouth.

Gather 'round children, and let uncle Limb It tell you a story.

On Thursday, I was chipping a particularly nasty piece of ash, quite hard, lots of 90 degree corners, plenty of things to get snagged on. Our company only has a 7" chipper, so there is a lot of babysitting that needs to be done to ensure the pieces all make it into the back of the truck. As I was getting this piece into the chipper, a piece of the branch managed to snag onto the back pocket of my overalls and start pulling me towards the machine. Not really a huge problem, as I had my hand right next to the crash bar. I back the piece out a bit which would normally get me untangled. It didn't work, I was stuck good. It had managed to twist its self into the top of the back pocket and I wasn't able to free myself. I was in no danger of getting dragged into the machine, But I really couldn't get myself free in any easy, or graceful way.

My groundie was only 15' away, but he had his back to me, sharpening a saw. There's no way that I would have been able to yell over the sound of the machine, and have him hear me.

All I had to do was hit the button and tell him that I needed him to bring over some loppers. Had this happened last week, I would have had to wait for him to notice I needed him, get him to come over, ask him to get the loppers, and then wait for him to get back with them to make the cut to free me. With the Sena's, this was all over in less time than it has taken for you to read this. Money really well spent.
