saddle

I am looking to buy a new saddle in the next month. I have used the same style old school saddle for years. I need to upgrade and join the new technology for climbing. Any suggestions for the larger than average climber? 6'4" 260lbs. If there were a cheeseburger climb at the TCC I would enter and win. Looking for back support and overall comfort.

Looks like you're in my area. I have a large sherrill edge that I've been very happy with it. You're welcome to stop by and hang in it. I'm 6' 220 and the large fits me with room to grow.

I'm 6'1" 240 and I have the New Tribe Nikosi and love it. Not a bad price for a very well built and comfy saddle.

6'1" 240 and I have worn several over the last couple years, the Ergovation has great back support and is not as heavy as it looks. I do not like the leg straps but it is a good durable harness. I also have a petzl sequoia srt but it tends to ride up a little.

I've had the Ergovation since it came out, great back support, so comfortable, and the rope bridge and ring set up will naturally make you a better climber.

ERGOVATION! It's a nice saddle, with nice back support and customization! The leg straps I'm getting used too!

I also have a versatile deluxe, it too was a good saddle for 3 years, but I wanted a bridge and seat less saddle, so now I have 2! I'm about 210 and 5'10! By friend is 6'4 and 270 and he loves the ergovation, but he too had to get used to the leg straps!

Not sure if a saddle can make you a better climber dude. Climbing and working with better climbers will HELP make you a better climber ( by visualizing moves ) but years of practice is really what makes a better climber as well as natural ability. Saying that a better fitting and more comfortable saddle will tend allow for improved mobility especially on prunes where reaching branch tips is a necessity. My pick is the sequoia and I have even owned the treemotion ( now in the process of being sold ) and a few others. I like it's glove fitting feeling and I prefer webbing bridges. I am 6' 185 lbs and the small is da bomb. Low profile for me. But each person needs to decide what works for them, here it's bitching hot and I like the sequoia way of wisking sweat away, the treemotion was too hot for day in day out use. Comfy though.

I had the sequoia and like it but it wasnt the most comfortable for me . Also have had the ergovatiuon before that and that was real comfortable. the price has kinda scared me away and i believe that there are just as comfortable of saddles now at a better price point personally.
