Yikes !!!!! My mistake Melissa, no disrespect intended. I can assure you that Toni will make me pay for that one so hopefully I can avoid whatever penance you may have in mind for me !!!

We are thrilled that you will be coming out for the TCC. Hopefully it will encourage all of the Women Climbers in Ohio to come and join the fun. (especially those women that I spoke to at the winter meeting who don't realize that I have already signed them up to compete and now they can't say no LOL)

**********************************
Speaking of the Ohio TCC, stay tuned for special announcements coming next week concerning both the June 1st seminars and the June 2nd TCC.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS!!!!????????

Can't wait!

Hey Rich, are you going to the Georgia competition? Mo-Rice and I are driving down there.......

If not, didn't you say you would be in Little Rock?

Stephan,

Georgia is definitely on my mind. I'm really looking forward to seeing you guys down there. Maybe we can meet up in Charlotte and get a caravan going? Any chance that you've already found the good local sushi spot? As far as Southern goes, I am absolutely trying to get there as well though I can't commit just yet.

Where's the info on this comp? I'm to lazy to page back. The chain gang will need a summer filler before TNTCC. The Firecracker was good at techno sushi- removalwizz had his first raw fish.

We will be leaving Charlotte very early on Friday (John and I), don't know what your plans are now, but just let me know.

I will find out from a buddy I have down there where the closest really good sushi place is in Decatur. I won't miss a sushi-outing with you this time around!

Come on Rich Paul and I are waiting in suspenders to hear the big news. I've been checking the buzz constantly I can't take it anymore. I've been munching some sushi waiting for the big news. Come on already.

Sorry for the delay in the announcements. I should have the info posted within the next few days. Stay tuned and don't eat that three day old sushi !!!

OTCC Special Announcement

It gives me HUGE pleasure to finally make the following announcements:

Registration for the Ohio Chapter TCC is officially underway!!!!! If you are interested in competing at the event please contact Chris Andrews at the Ohio Chapter and let her know of your intentions.

Here is the email address: info@ohiochapterisa.org

The registration will be open to 2 climbers per company until May 1st.(excluding Madison who gets 3 due to Jay Butcher being the returning champion) If we do not fill the field by May 1st a third climber will be allowed from Ohio companies on a first come first serve basis. I highly suggest signing up fast !!!! I absolutely encourage any and all female climbers to get involved with this event. Both the Mens and Womens winner will be sent on a plane to the ITCC in Hawaii along with other prizes.

Okay now that that is over with......

IT GIVES ME EVEN MORE PLEASURE TO ANNOUNCE THE FOLLOWING:

******************************************************
The June 1st seminar will include the following speakers, several of which you may have heard of:

***** Mark Chisholm *****

***** Tod Kramer *****

***** Melissa LeVangie *****

*******************************************************

The topics covered and registration info for the seminar will be posted very soon. Needless to say the Ohio Chapter is super excited for this event and we would love to see loads of climbers from surrounding states and chapters coming out for this event. If you need any more information please contact me or the Ohio Chapter.

ps

We will be having an official/unofficial sushi fest more than likely on the night of the TCC. For those who are a bit squeamish about raw fish (Scotty) rest assured that they have cooked food as well.

I can't believe you just outed our biggest sushi spy.

Hey Rich, Did you see his sushi eating attire.(A.A. shirt)

Re: OTCC Special Announcement

It's good to see such a good group of guys for the seminars for the talks on Thursday.

Cory,
If you think that plate is big you should've seen the tray of 50 pieces of sushi that we split in Baltimore. I'm not sure the ocean has enough fish to support Rich's addiction.

Re: OTCC Special Announcement

Rich, I want to get in one more comp prior to TN TCC, how do you think I would fare at Ohio? I am "susidising" to make the trip north, how much do you feel I will need to bring the wife and kids? Our products have been selling well in southern comps, maybe we could sel a few there. How's the price of fish in Cleveland?

Re: OTCC Special Announcement

Hey Keith,

First of all you and the whole Tennesee crew would fit right in with the climbers in Ohio. The only difference would be that we are somewhat less likely to wear sleevless shirts due to our famously unpredictable weather. Without a doubt you would leave the comp with at least 60 new friends, a few more tricks for the toolbox, and sense of amazement that it can actually snow in Ohio in early June. We would love to see you up here Keith, so come on up.

The only problem is going to be that I am not sure that we are going to have spots available for out of state climbers as we are filling up fast with local climbers. (several women already signed up too !!!!!) We would be thrilled to see you and any other Southern representatives who might want to come up and help with teching or volunteering though. So far we have people coming in from 8 states to help out, Tennesee is not represented yet so come on up!! More than likely I will have a place for you to stay free of charge and I am working on a reduced rate for a ton of us at our favorite sushi spot (its the place where I have my checks direct deposited to) so the whole trip shouldn't cost you too much.

ps I am thrilled that your products are selling well. We have sent a few people your way looking for those bungee lanyards. When you come up make sure to bring a catalog or list of the stuff you carry so I can possibly start distributing some of it in our area.

OTCC sign up forms

Here are the sign up sheets and other information for the upcoming OTCC. A few items of note:

After our recent Board meeting (that I had to leave early from and therefore missed the discussion on this) it was decided that we are going to institute a "minimum requirement" for our Chapter to send a climber to ITCC. This requirement applies to both men and women and I truly feel that it was not put in to discriminate against anyone, but to establish a baseline of skills that should be expected from a possible representative to ITCC. The requirement states that a climber must:

"complete 3 of the 5 events" in order to qualify to represent the Ohio Chapter at ITCC.

It has always been a policy in Ohio that a climber must "participate" in all 5 events in order to qualify for the Master Climb, but this new policy requires you to "complete" 3 of 5 to win or atleast to get sent to ITCC.

The definition of "complete" that I received from the Board is literally completing the task of the event. From what I can gather this means that you must:
********************************************
Work Climb: finish the event under the time limit of 5 minutes for men and 7 minutes for women.

Aerial Rescue: unclip the dummy under 5 minutes for men and 7 minutes for women.

Throw Line: get at least one line set in a crotch.

Footlock: ring the bell under 1 minute.

Belayed Speed: I don't believe there is an established guidline for this.
*********************************************

You must "participate" in all 5 events to qualify for the Master climb and "complete" 3 of 5 in order to represent the Ohio Chapter at ITCC.

I would love to hear input on this. I truly feel this was not instituted to discriminate against anyone and I feel that it is fair across the board for the climbers. Obviously a big part of this will be to make sure the set up is done in a way that will allow for the climbers to have a realistic chance of completing the events and not making things near impossible. I believe this rule was enstated to solve the problem of having only one person competing (man or woman) and having no choice but for the chapter to send that one person regardless of skills. I don't think this was done to keep anyone out of ITCC, but to establish a concrete minimum requirement for all climbers to meet.

What does everyone think?
