And maybe I didn't explain it very well, but a friend of mine got in trouble a couple of years ago with the school he was teaching at because he taught the students how to use a hoizontal traverse in this case to take down a very rotten maple. The school's reason was somewhere along the same lines as mine.

I do that tree the same way again, be it my job or my class.

Some things I choose to do might be "gray".

Everything I do I would vehemently defend in court, because I have a brain and I use it.

per Hollys approval

I have to say I like it, nice and new. Though you'd get more out of your hitch climber if you used it right, and put the eye loop binner in the top hole and not the middle.

Yea I'm a wanker, but I know my stuff.

whats the size of them shacks 20ton???

17 ton and 10 ton

[/ QUOTE ]

We use a 23 ton shackle.

Its ridiculously huge, but I already bought it for another purpose that didn't work out.

Massive bend radius for the sling eyes.

Sweet!

you got my approval too, if ya care.

what diameter are the amsteel?

Nice!

someone get some pictures, that bright blue won't last too long.

that pin oak picture of ours was the first day using ours, see how nice they showed up in the picture? beautiful

they get snagged on chainsaw chain real easy, and stubs and rough bark. the first day using them, was the worst, then i got better with them and they've held up well.

boy, wait till you do a sweet gum with them, funny, you'll be wiping off sweet gum balls after every pick. It'll be like velcro.

My guys like how easily the knots come untied.

Always leave a little bit of tail, it will pull through when tightening, i try to leave 8 to 10 inches. our 1" amsteel pulls through about 2 inches using a running bowline until it's tight.

Pretty huge Euc.

I wish I could get to do a Euc someday. I think that would be SO FUN. It would be like an oversized sycamore maybe...

Very nice Jesse. I like the way the shackle 'pins' are secured. Please get some pics or vid.

I too, use the lower and middle holes in my hitch climber. The top hole is vacant unless I double crotch. The running end of the rope fairleads better in this configuration.

Chris G., as long as the shackle pin is captured, the pin can't unthread. But, good observation.

I do believe those slings are Tenex. Right? Not Amsteel Blue. Amsteel and Amsteel Blue are both single carrier.
