new echo chainsaw commercial

Thank you Tom for letting some of the others on this site know that I am not a stalker. As Birdyman noted, I asked a simple question about a TV commercial that seemed to be the rare celebration of a female climber and was wondering if she was someone known in our circles. Just a simple F-ing "who is that person?" Should have known it would degrade into sexist crap ("is she hot?", "are we sure its a she?", "man in his 70's reinforcing the patriarchy"- WTF???) and insinuations about my character.

For those of you who have nothing better to do than throw shade on someone you've never met, I have been involved in ISA and ITCC for OVER 20 YEARS and am quite well known to hundreds of men AND women in this field.

I hope Mark Chisholm sees this. Hate to drag him into it (though we've known each other for over 20 years), but as one of the founders of this site he should know what kind of crap is going on here.
Aiding and abetting a stalker?? Lots of other girls to look at on the internet??? What a disgusting disservice to this forum many of you are.

This thread has turned into something sleazy and hateful- through no fault of mine. Go find something useful to do with your sad lives.
It could be said that many are living sad lives at moment. Easy to pre-emptively judge on all fronts. Thought a response like this was coming as was just a simple question… however one that could have been read a few different ways without clarification pending the experiences of the reader. Good opportunity for all to take a step backwards and start the year off anew… and keep away from red light districts….

Just because something doesn't make sense to you doesn't mean its a conspiracy.

Just because you can do something [make a comment] doesn't mean you should. That sort of behavior can stay out on Facebook.

When I turned off last night I was ready to take off my Velvet Glove this morning to lock this thread. That is the most gut wrenching part of being a moderator. I'd like all the posters on this thread to reread it again.

And what lesson do you suggest we draw from it?
But I'm sure she is better, whoever she is !
“If it’s too good to be true - it probably is…” Colloquial field guide to to Thailand’s red light district…
I missed it when it was concluded that the patriarchy was bad.
This is not a locker room. It is a public forum, and specifically, a section of the forum meant to be a place for women.

Patriarchy is a system of oppression that maintains the balance of power in the hands of cis white men. If that sounds like a cool thing to you, you’re certainly not alone, this has been the predominant mode of society for centuries. Most men see the changes starting to happen as an attack on the powers and liberties they have enjoyed, I would suggest reframing that as rising tides raise all ships. True equality is the only path to a more loving, peaceful, productive society.

this is my last post on the buzz, this thread has been an eye opener for me and I don’t want to be a part of this community, conversation, any longer. Climb safe.

Sorry to see that you are intending to leave.

Before you go I do not agree with your take on the conversation, I don’t see Patriarchy presenting itself in the posts. I suggest taking a backward step and look over the thread again…

Ahhh, found what I think might be the commercial in question.

I can see why there was a bit of a "thirst" viewpoint, attractive lady.

Appears to be a real arborist, she seems skilled in the video. I honestly don't see an art director for a commercial going to the trouble of getting a consulting arborist in to make everything look real filming with a model.

Great find. I hope the ‘take the punches’ refers to trees, although she looks a little like she could handle herself regardless…

I think she got the job because she is attractive and a woman as well as an arborist. Is that contradictory? Is it a thought crime for me to state(or think?) She is attractive even though that is why echo paid her.

Should we even buy echos when there isn't a single female arborist in all the land of the rising sun?

How do you live like this.

Hope you stick around @Stumpsprouts as this is a very good and useful forum. Lots in any kind of media to irritate or disgust individuals as the world becomes more complex and society more divisive. Taking a minute to keep conversations going and not descend into spats is so necessary these days, although I can’t help it sometimes. Please continue to be part of the online arborist community if only to help those coming to learn safe and current practices. With respect, Sven

Howdy:
Anyone know the woman in the new echo commercial? I couldn't find any info online.
Is she that hot?
My thoughts on the subject? @texasmossball i don’t see any foul on your inquiry. BUT we do live in a world where it’s likely much safer that the subject of the commercial is anonymous, wether on purpose or accident. If her name and contact info was public just imagine the type of crap that she would be subject to. Many of the posts here obviously reflect on the reasons of why it’s likely a good idea for her to be a ‘unknown’.

@oldoakman pretty out of line and character, we are all human but I’m disappointed in your comment
its 2021 are we sure its a "she"?
@treesap we now have a problem kid. I have many friends who deal with the daily threat of their LIVES due to their identities. I’ve had to go to some of their funerals too. This is a hard line and you need to seriously get your head in check. I just spent hours yesterday putting my body between full grown adult men who took it upon themselves to actively intimidate a group of out youth. The fuckers took turns pacing and surrounding kids your age. The cops just sat back and watched as their group advanced from 75 yards to within a few paces. They allowed them to circle and pace our group as well. If your interested I have video of these scum
“If it’s too good to be true - it probably is…” Colloquial field guide to to Thailand’s red light district…
@Chaplain242 there is more wrong with this statement than I care to address. The fact that it’s in line with a statement from a 14 year old boy who obviously needs to broaden his horizons is telling enough
This thread, in this forum. So disappointing. Stated intent of forum- “Promoting and encouraging the growth and visibility of Women in Arboriculture. Connecting Women out of the trees. Jump on-line and climb higher with us!”

More like, “Promoting and encouraging the growth of objectification of women and patriarchy in Arboriculture. Jump on-line and be objectified and marginalized by us!”

Edit - This isn’t a critique for any particular person- mostly the OP and his intentions seem questionable as others have mentioned. I’m just watching a man in his 70s reinforce the patriarchy to a young man in his early teens and it just really needs to change. Especially on a forum that is supposed to be an inviting place for female climbers. Just really think about what it is like if you were a woman doing this kind of work, and all the uninvited attention to your body you would receive. How you would want to be assessed for your ideas, skills, and ingenuity by your colleagues and clients on a day to day. Imagine having to field attention about whether you have big package or a square jaw and nice haircut and broad shoulders.
I’m with stumps on this one. This thread is one of the dark days on the buzz. No wonder this specific sub forum has inches of dust on it. The fact that I know 1 woman per 10 or more men in this industry is telling enough. I work in a mircocausim and unfortunately I’ve only worked alongside one woman in my fucken 15 year carriers, and same goes for any one who is out LGBTQ.

I’m going to stick this one out, and will continue to stand up and voice myself the best way I can when this shit comes up. This is one of the *best* online arborist forums, with many members that I hold the upmost respect for. BUT being the best doesn’t mean we don’t have ALOT of room to grow, or the fact that it’s very telling with the ratio of sexes we need to be doing much more.

Evo most men don't want to do what we do!
We would need conscription to find parity between the sexes.
The correct statement should read “most people don’t want to do what we do” personally I’ve found the most interest in out industry isn’t from white dudes, but once the disparity is revealed many choose a not to participate

@texasmossball Her name is Alisha Amundson. She is an accomplished climber (obviously) who has won the Florida TCC, and has been to the ITCC.
From the ITCC competitor bios:
ALISHA AMUNDSON #31 • Florida Chapter (United States) Appearing in her first ITCC is Alisha Amundson from Oviedo, Florida. She has worked in arboriculture for 11 years as a grounds worker and climber, but now owns her own company, Tree Girl Designs. Alisha has a two-year-old named Sawyer, and she enjoys outdoor activities like fishing, mountain biking, airboating, riding motorcycles and of course landscape design. She also spends time riding motorcycles and doing wood carving.

EDIT: I will add that a few years back my oldest daughter was working for a local park conservancy and was showing an interest in learning how to climb. Alisha was one of the climbers we ran across online when trying to find some lady arborists for her to follow.

Here is the extended commercial on Youtube

I can see why he was asking now

Wow, she sounds like quite an accomplished lady! (And no, I haven’t watched the commercial so I don’t know what she looks like) I am very glad to hear that Echo chose to find someone of that caliber to do their ad, and not just pick a politically-correct actress/model to take advantage of the current trends.

She sounds like she would be a remarkable role model for a lot of the young people of today, I hope this commercial isn’t her only television appearance. Maybe TCIA/ISA could recruit her to run some ads for the tree industry as a whole, we could use a fresh face and a different approach to bringing in the next generation of the tree care industry is going to survive.

1: it was a joke
2: I have an opinion
3: its great that you have an opinion
4: im not changing my opinion
#1. you are a biggot if you joke about a persons sexuality/gender or preference
#4. If you are unable or unwilling to change your opinion this simply just reinforces #1.
p.s I dont care if you have a problem with me, it costs nothing to not talk to me
Well if that is how it is, best of luck in this world you need it
