Morbark chipper question

Hello,

Can anyone tell me how to get the wood chips to shoot harder ??

Model 2200 drum

I run it at 2500 rpm have new blades and belt is tight. Anvil new.

Is there a setting somewhere on unit? It is 115hp

Thank you,

Treecare

We run a morbark model 13. Is the problem that the chips sort of fall out of the end of the chipper chute, or is the problem that the chip truck doesn't fill up to the ceiling? If the chips just don't fill up the truck, sometimes the angle of the chute is wrong. We've had problems with the bolts and the holes they're in, getting worn over time (bouncing down the road and over potholes, I suspect). This results in a chute that points slightly more downward than it should. The result is a chip truck that doesn't quite fill up.

It sounds like there is something wrong with the fan on the side of the drum. Most newer morbarks have a impeller fan on the drivers side of the drum that brings air in assisting in the discharge of the chips out the other end. That being said years ago we demoed a smaller chipper 10 or 12 inch (I dont remember the model) and it did the same thing. Luckily it was a demo and we sent it back. Needless to say we didnt get a small chipper, i think we chose a 2400. Another thing to check is there any obstructions in the chute slowing the chips down?

I recently bought a 2400 and it has the same issue. The knives were beat to death, though, so I recently swapped them out... Haven't used it yet, so I can't say if the issue is fixed or not.

It also seems like mine has a lot of gaps in the discharge system, like where the chute bolts down, etc, and I'm thinking that these 'leaks' may be causing some of the loss of pressure. I'm wondering if there's a rubber gasket that belongs in the seal between the chute and the drum housing.

Adjust the clutch. On our tornado, if the clutch is out of adjustment, chips don't throw hard. I have no idea why (not mechanically inclined), but I just pop the clutch cover and go one or two clicks to the right and good to go. We have to do this every few months I would say.
