Looking for a chip truck

Always wondered why I saw chip trucks with man cabs......
Personally I'd do L boxs with an additional one if you can fit it so you don't lose chip box space, but you know your needs better than I.

Those cabs are roomy, plenty of room for three people.
so you think an extended cab with an L box would work quite well for our needs? We could get most of the equipment in the boxes. Then put the climbing gear & lunches in the cab. I have not been able to look at any trucks except for a C5500 with a man cab.

I don't understand why chip boxes don't have Dutch Doors, so that you can enclose and lock the bed. Inevitably there are times were the bed is used for storage. My mini and ramps sit in mine frequently. Often more.

I haven't gotten around to adding an upper door yet. Next truck for sure.

Instead of a man cab I'd like to have an enclosed mini platform that doubles for gear storage also. @islandedge had one on an F450 or 550.

The first guy that taught new school rigging/climbing had an old Asplund truck with a man cab. Fits a ton of gear, and found it handy for three guys to climb in and wait out a rain shower. Other than that, I feel they take up to much frame space. Phil, I like your idea better with an extend-a-cab with the L or I pack better. Like Rivi said the I pack with separate under boxes would be better.
No matter what you decide, you will most likely never have enough storage. It's a given .....

That truck will serve you well. Great truck and a great engine with low miles. Just make sure it's not a spray paint beauty. It doesn't look like it was worked hard for 11yrs but its hard to tell from pics.

So I finally got a truck. I have a question. We got a 2006 C6500 Asplund chiptruck with a man cab. How do you use the chains in the toolboxes & ladder box or how do you secure stuff like the ladder? Mine has chains in the boxes that do not have connectors & seem kinda short.
