Looking for a chip truck

What would you do different?
The hole in the middle would be about 4'w x 3' tall....
I hate Barn Doors.

Swing gate or barn doors. I don't think you will be happy with the dump through gate. They are great when you are dumping dirt that starts off well below the top. But your chips are going to be packed right up against the lid above you hinge and will get jammed up.
We built at 1980 Mack ten wheeler into a large cap truck, left the gate for about a week if I remember right. Between not being able to load stuff in the back, to it jamming under the hinge pins it was a pain. And then on top of that you couldn't get into the dump to "clean the chips out of the corners" without an extension ladder! :coffee::lol:

Speaking of chip trucks,Free to a good home tail gate off a 14' Arbortech body I bought truck new and had it ordered with dual tailgates for my bandit 1850xp. Didn't use it and trucks long gone been in shed for years gotta go. Pm if interested.
Here's pic of gate

What about the swing gate I scrubbed out earlier, with this side gate on the bottom?

I'm going to put an actual tailgate in it, kind of like a tandem, but with a center door to use with the chipper or to set chunks in with the mini.

Is that a tarp roller you have on the top of the box? In my opinion a rigid top is better. My current chip box has 5 steel bars on the roof, with a thick tarp over the top. Snow and ice keeps building up on it. I'm thinking I would put a wood frame over the first 2/3rds of the body and metal roofing over that. Has anyone seen that done?

Crude Dwg, I know.

I can't decide how I want to do the top: suggestions?

I am finally getting serious about finding a chip truck. Do the L boxes have enough room for two climber's gear, rigging gear, 2 Ms 261s, Ms 660, 2 MS 200t, and fuel?

If there's room under the chip box somewhere maybe consider adding just one more box sounds like a lotta stuff. Add a tool box for scrench, files, wedges, whatever you keep around to the list of stuff you need to store. Maybe you could fit it all but it might suck to work around

That's kinda of what I thought. I am leaning towards a man cab because I think my equipment would fit & one man would be able to still ride in there. What do you all think?

I can barely fit any more gear in my boxes. You need to get the L box that is seperate from the I box like mine. In the I box I have 2 880's in the bottom boxes I have 660, 6 461's, and 4 ms 200's and a husky 550 And they are packed in there. on top of the riggin ropes gear bags it's very full. We always have this truck and 1 or 2 more so I get by with storage but this truck is maxed out
