Lanyard Combo

i have 2 lanyards, a 5m and a 15m, both kernamantel and with alloy hooks both ends. The short one has a dog snap in the middle and the long one has 2, these just for scooping em up midway to the tool loops and keeping rope out of my feet. My adjusters are two old grillons with the screw taken out so I can swap them between the two lines real quick depending on the tree. I know 15m is a real long lanyard but we get real big spread eucs and I'll use it for a second climbing system all the time. Two grillons back to back is great, I use one on the forward ring and one on the side d like all you other guys are saying or sometimes clip one to the central tie in point like the grillon manual says for single leg operation. It is VERY difficult to get the grillon to release in this mode when its got all your weight tho.

In all honesty, I got fed up with carrying too much hardware on my lanyard, so I reduced my free end to just an eye on the rope and a prusik, and there is a trick that does not require a pulley to ascend the prusik, I'm sure it's well known though.

Observation: The Petzl adjust cordage does not come with the sewn eyes covered with shrink tube leaving the stitching exposed. Seems like a no trainer. I was visiting Wesspur last week in Washington State and talked with their splicer as he was sewing eyes. He mentioned the most expensive part of that process was the cost of the clear adheisive shrink tube they use to cover the sewing.
I suspect Petzl has some bean counter figuring out how to shave pennys off the cost of production to get profits up and stock prices higher. Look at the foot ascender etc, everything is going to minimums.
You know, there's a great principle in engineering which is, no more and no less than exactly what's needed. Petzl is a great and storied company in the climbing business with a long history of engineering excellence and innovation. Lately it seems they've allowed their bean counters to get in on the process, and now they're flirting with less than what's needed. I think that's really a shame.

I just noticed the shrink wrap sewn eye comments, can you see mine on the pics? This is my third attachment point, and I'm super keen on cover only stitched or brummeled splices, bargain basement to do, the Prusik is a waste piece of only 70cm long, and is a great 60cm Prusik.

Black glued shrinkwrap is cheap, but very industrial and tough.
