Lanyard Combo

More on the subject, I use tri-tech with a 24" armour prus and schzll.... wire core for pines. I have an ART adjuster which I've never been crazy about (probably just force of habit). I'd ship it to you Mike if you want to give it a try.

Im a huge fan of the positioner , the swivel is very useful so don't write it off.
It works well on 11 mm dynamic rope also works well on double braids and 16 strands . I had on on my steelcore with the correct cam and it self tended to well so I was always moving it around and fiddling but after going to a hitch I went back because it works well with sap has zero setback and only gets used for conifers anyway.

It's the self tending aspect that I find to be the major detraction from mechanical lanyard adjusters. The tail pulls all of the length through as it hangs on your saddle, then requires both hands to release the friction while pulling out the required length to buck in.... not every time, just when you're in the most awkward position at the end of a long limb.

A total pain in the a#$ , doesn't seem to be a problem with rope though I have found , just the heavier steelcore. the 11 mm dynamic is my favourite so far . I have heard good things about the cinch but when i briefly used it , I couldn't get a smooth release under tension without using the lever , and because i have mine on the left its a pita .

I tried out Ocean's advice of using 4/1 Michocan with 9mm Epicord today with arbormaster. That was some smooth action. Impressive.

My cinch is on the left also. I have always had my adjustment for the lanyard on the left. I thought the cinch would be awkward with the handle inboard towards my hip but I haven't had an occasion yet to have to release using the handle. I simply squeeze the cinch and get the slack I need. I was concerned with the line running through the cinch when I wasn't clipped in but no issues. My steel core doesn't do that either. When I did have a huge 14' 3/4 steel core it would feed to the clip every time. I haven't used a huge lanyard like that for years. Smaller diameter and shorter length and no problems. I use a 10' steel core now and honestly never take it out of the bag. Loving the cinch and tritech. Probably the best set up I have used for a nonsteel core lanyard. I also use the lanyard minder clips on my accessory loops. I'm sure that takes some of the weight off the excess lanyard preventing it from gravity feeding through the device while not clipped in.

I actually have a shizll I've never used in the box of goodies in my garage. Bought is to use on a custom lanyard but forgot to have it put on the line before the clips were spliced on to both ends. So here is sits. Anybody want it?

My coworker has been wanting to try one, if it hasn't been claimed.

If any have seen the lockjack mods thread, you'll see the tether/pulley method I use, this is a good way to slow or stop self tending, the option for self tending is also still available by pulling enough weight the other side of the pulley.
For the positioner it's not a big issue with the self tend, just a bit of hand work and tilting it till your in position.

I just got a Petzl Zillon delivered last week. I already have a zigzag and love it. Very smooth, very secure. So I decided to give the Zillon a try. Haven't climbed with it yet but should have a couple climbs on it before the end of the week. I got the 18' length for more versatility. Will give an update when I have more info.
