KY TCC 2009

Alright everybody!

I've got news and information for our upcoming Kentucky TCC.

News is that setup will be the day prior to the competition. That is Friday October 2nd. There will be a gear check (imagine that, Roger!) and a climbers meeting on Friday afternoon/evening at an undisclosed location. Those not present for gear check will have to make special concessions with the chair to have equipment checked prior to 8:00AM Saturday morning. Climbers meeting is also mandatory. Late attendees and no shows will be caned with a splintered fiberglass pole by Norm Hall.

We're working on lodging/camping in the area, so stay tuned for updates.

The entry/waiver form is below with the chair's address and other contact information. The might be some other information on the KAA's website calendar.

Personally, I'm hoping for a good turn out of Kentucky climbers this year. Not that we don't love out-of-staters. But all those KY climbers who haven't experienced the fun and learning opportunities of a TCC should give it a try. "Excuses are for people who need them."

And the cherry on top....

Three days later, these guys are going to rock Freedom Hall in Louisville, KY.

I can't loose!

You sure it isn't set for the following weekend? or the one after that? or some weekend in October that I actually will be in town ?????

This is why we need a dang TCC commisioner to make sure that the dates are set WELL in advance so that plans can be made......I'll stop crying, I was just really looking forward to this event this year...was even considering trying to take a run at The Hammer !!!!

Good luck to all the KY climbers !!!

Dang!, I was hoping for "inspection" at each event so I could use my non-locking snaps and super light weight, polypro, prussik. Ascenders with no back-ups was on the list too. But the best part is I wanted to use some of my very first spliced stuff that no one has ever looked at or even tested. I've watched a few videos, I'm sure it'll hold, I mean how hard could it be? Yeah man, that darn gear inspection really ruined things for me. But there is still hope... If the (majority of) people that Judged Owensboro are participating, After a big puff of cigarette smoke is blown in my face for the footlock event, I'm pretty sure I'll ACE the prelims and coast through the Master's with no problems. Hopefully only 2 scoring judges will have read the rule book just to cut down on any unnecessary confusion.

Glad things are changing.

This is terrible news. I have never been at a KY TCC without the powerhouse Rich Hattier. You'll be sorely missed, Rich.

I guess we'll have to call and cancel those specially prepared spider roll boxed lunches that we ordered. Dang it! Not to mention the coolers of Asahi for after.

Tyler,
Yes. I was totally bucking up on you....

Oh my gosh. A TCC without Rich, is like a rope without a splice. You will be missed my friend.

We are looking at putting together a work day on September 5th at the Henry Clay Estate to get ready for the upcoming KYTCC here in Lexington (that is a Saturday). I have to clear with the management of the estate but I am sure they will be thrilled to hear about getting some free pruning work done. We will bring our truck and chipper. So come on down and help pick out the trees and get them ready for the event. I will post further details later.

WHO CAN MAKE IT ? We will provide lunch for volunteers and there could be some beers involved afterwords.

This event grows closer by the moment. I stopped by a couple of local companies today and dropped off waiver forms for their climbers.

And now for a friendly challenge...

I defy any company out there to match Limbwalker's number of competitors. We're planning on 7 from our company.

I'm also looking to solidify support from some volunteers. Mainly Scotty and Greg M who expressed earlier interest, but were waiting on a date. What say you now, my extended Tree Family? Anybody from Norf Kakalak going to make the trip? Ante up Heartwood!

We're also in the market for sponsors and/or prize donations. Interested parties can contact the chair, Dave Leonard (859-252-2529 or dave@dlarborist.com) or myself (502-376-9637 or corypetry@limbwalkertree.com).

Tell Jay Butcher to bring it! The more the merrier my friend. I'm looking for some numbers this year, and would really like to see a good turnout of Kentucky climbers. More climbers (no matter where they're from) makes for a better event. Does Madison know when/where the event is, Rich? If not I think I have Jay's number and would be happy to email/FAX them a waiver form.

What are you doing that weekend? Some Paul Bunyon thing? Wasn't he supposed to have a big blue ox? Sounds like some made up bedtime story to me. Hardly worth missing this competition for, my shiny domed friend. Didn't you hear me mention the bento box lunches?
