ISA 2015 Conference Highlights; Decay is Good!

On an aside do you know any papers that talk on visit/decay and growing season? Ie the growing season in Florida is longer than Ontario so a tree should grow less and be more dormant so is there a school of thought on them healing over or decaying less?
We got talking about this the other day and led to some interesting thoughts and questions

Kevin, if you are asking about differences in decay rate from north to south, I refer to the attached article by George Hepting and Alex Shigo. Sure, they are writing about oak and fire injury, but I think the principles still apply.

Hepting, based in North Carolina, was a US Forest Service scientist and real giant in forest pathology. His observations in the 1930's stimulated Shigo in the development of the compartmentalization concept in the 1960's. Hepting was also a pioneer in describing the adverse effects of pollution and climate change, long before most folks were aware.
