How does Coronavirus COVID-19 alter our workflow?

Teufleberger has published rope disinfecting guidelines in response to Covid19:

Interesting! the 70% isopropyl and 30% water solution recommended changes the hand of the rope, makes it stiffer. That's not too great.

Personally I'm the only one who uses my ropes for work. If people share ropes and are worried about about Covid19 transmission it would be simple enough to wear gloves.

I don't think gloves will work - they just kick the bucket down the road. They need gloves to cover up their contaminated gloves, y'know?

I exited isolation in my workflow for the first time in over a month yesterday to work the ground for a climber friend on his job. We took down a 36" ash, got him started on some srt pruning in a couple small maples, did some friendly throwline competition in said maples, and pruned a small live oak. I had a bin of super soapy water and used it about 30 times over the course of 8 hours, most notably between roping stuff down from the ash and maples. When I got home I stuck it all in the washing machine.

Thanks for posting that link. Any information on rope sanitation is critical, and this is the first I've seen from a manufacturer.

Yeah, true. This shiite is everywhere, we'll all be exposed eventually most likely. "Don't touch your face!", "Aaaargh, I can't stop touching my face, my nose itches!".

No idea if it is of use or not but I started rubbing as high on my sleeve as I could against itching face part. We could rub up against a tree I guess.

Not sure about the sleeve. Maybe pull sleeve up first. You certainly don’t want to get poison ivy or anything or any tree debris in your eye or around face area. You never know what you come in contact with on the job ya know?

I think this is how I got poison “something” near my eyelids a few weeks ago.

Wanted to get this out there with seeing nurses crying for not having masks and needing to still work. It seems to be top notch info but I don't know for sure.

4 N95 masks can be rotated for continued use, safely. Also construction of same and why superior to a home made cloth mask.
One of my best friends I play hockey and golf with (or did) has a wife who is a obgyn. She cried when someone in their neighborhood offered n95 masks to her while they walked their dogs last week. It is real.

So it did get weird, but do we get a second lockdown or stat locked down?

They extended our lockdown, talking about easing work restrictions for contractors. It’s poorly worded as the previous ones. It mentions no new construction projects can’t take place, but existing ones shut down by the virus restrictions can start back up.

The start up is contingent upon adherence to the governors 30 point plan. I now have to take my groundie temp (all thermometers are sold out, except for rectal). I also have to provide a portable hand washing station, which supplies hot and temped water. All the other stuff is pretty easy.. except sourcing masks, gloves, and hand sanitizers (and now a portable hand wash). Just wondering if I can require the HO to provide access to garden hoses.

This is an interesting article about the Spanish Flu
1918-1919 Spanish Flu

Mark, I keep getting a "Server not found" notice. Would you post again?

Historic stuff is very interesting. Looking back we should have known (many did) this was coming. Through history many different plagues have happened. One in 1910 was doing 100% kill for the limited range of people who got it.

I got to wondering what had the 1918 pandemic ever stop and when, googled that. One reference said life got back to normal in 1920....or was it 1922? (My bit of cheer for the day.)
