For our own sanity it bears repeating: even at 200,000 deaths we’d be looking at a .06% death rate in the U.S.
And still less than half the toll of the 1918 flu, which if we’re honest none of us gave a shit about until 3 weeks ago. My point is, even at three times Fauci’s estimate life will eventually normalize and our grandkids won’t give a shit about corona.
But hopefully they will have stockpiled a few ventilators. Maybe a few billion American made masks too.

I'm working when I have work. Zero client contact. Go straight to work and straight home. I don't even get a starbucks anymore and that's fuckin huge for me. It's just me in this biz. Have no idea what I will be eligible for or even who to ask. March isn't a problem because my gross receipts are better than 2019 so its likely i'm not eligible for anything until I see how April goes. The unknowns are driving me fucking mad. Don't know what's gonna happen from 1 day to the next.

Personal protective equipment (PPE) shortages during the COVID-19 pandemic have precipitated a wave of creative solutions for repurposing of N95 masks. A growing influx of new information can make it difficult to discern best practices for mask re-use.

4 N95 masks can be rotated for continued use, safely. Also construction of same and why superior to a home made cloth mask.

Same here, the unknowns are the worst part of this shit. But what I do know is we are going to be sitting on our asses for a while. Shit is going to get really fucken weird in 3-4 weeks.
If this lockdown is moderately successful odds are we will have a second peek, then another lockdown or just stay locked down.
I wonder if I can get unemployment and work just enough to cover bare overhead? While I mostly feel 100% safe working solo, there is always that custie who takes two steps in for every step I back up.. then there is the employee... only real exposure between him and I is when we make out after lunch. So when you say "crying" about not having masks, what exactly do you mean?? Do you mean that they're not excited about being in direct contact with Covid 19 positive patients without the right PPE to keep themselves, their families and other patients safe? Just read an article that the island hospital likely is going to shut down. Under normal times I’d think it’s a good idea, even our FD has a pact to never send one of their own there.
The are keeping the restricted winter ferry schedule, and reducing the number of boats from that. Not a good setup with demographics looking a lot more like Italy than the rest of the USA

Instead of owning the fact that he has been woefully unprepared to keep our healthcare workers supplied with PPE, Trump has just resorted to accusing hospital workers of stealing the very PPE that is keeping them alive

Yes as Bucknut said, they are literally crying - post #434 - she was given one mask for the whole year 2020 AND.......wait for it........... a brown paper bag to carry it back and forth to work.
My wife showed me another vid today where a nurse shared that she is working on a person coughing and showing all the signs and her bosses come around collecting all the remaining masks out of ICU carts and tell them the new protocol is you don't wear them. She was called on the carpet for it and she begged saying she would keep up the 16 hour days tell this is over but please give me my mask - NO - she shares this crying.
I would offer to quit. Saving peoples lives is important but, not if leadership is idiotically expecting you to unnecessarily trade your life for it. (Remember they had just taken a stock of masks out of her supply cart.)

I firmly believe nurses expected to work without proper PPE should walk out of the hospitals in mass. Phone all the media outlets and post on social media as people are dying if need be, while they stand across the road ready to go back to work with proper tools.
All of America should come in behind them. All manufacturing that could be re-purposed should be. If we over do it at first and waste some money, so be it. These are some of our brightest, best, and most dedicated. Many/most would do anything they could for us if we were lying there on the bed.
