Light 14 or 16" narrow kerf bar for 200t or 201t

Any recommendations? I have a good moderate hour 200t with a stock (heavy) b/c.

Might buy a new 201 if they can be economically upgraded with drum, bar and chain.

Is an .043 clutch drum available for a 200t?

Mostly cutting softwood.

I'm getting accustomed to 1/4" in 193t and 2511t.

Sprockets are independent of the gauge. They have to match pitch: either 1/4 (never seen one on a 200/201) or 3/8. You will be happy with a 16” in either 0.043 or 0.050 gauge if it has any cojones. Otherwise, go with the stock 14”.

All of ours are 201TC-M models, we run 16 inch bars with 3/8 inch picco chain from Stihl, .043 gauge, and they work great. The Stihl lightweight bars are excellent, and the M-Tronic carburetors are wonderful.

Same setup here with my 201, and it can handle having the full bar buried in Oak. Although typically when you get to that size your better off switching out saws unless it's just 1 or 2 cuts

I've got Stihl 1/4" pitch on my 193t.
Very nice. Stihl and arbsession 1/4" on 2500t and 2511t.

I don't know if the 200t would convert due to age, or strength of chain for power in the saws (200t or 201t).

I run the stock 16" bar and a Stihl full chisel chain on my ported 201T, after a bit of trial and error that's been best for me. On my muffler modded 200T, I ran a 16" .043 bar and chain for a while. It was a little lighter I believe, but can't really find full chisel chain in that size so it wasn't as aggressive a chain, but I never did a timed cut-test.

Never ran a 1/4" on the 200/201, but did on my battery Husky T540i for ages and never had problems. The chain was more fragile and harder to sharpen, but I did feel it gained some efficiently. I emailed with MonkeyBeaver about them, and they did tell me they had been having quality control issues with the bars for some period as others have mentioned here, but supposedly that has been fixed these days. I agree the 1/4" pitch is TOTALLY worth it on the Echo 2500T battery and 2511T gas saws. They are light and deserve to be as nimble and sporty as possible.

Posted this photo before, but remember the stupid 'live laugh log' bars are NOT lighter than the 'old' ones.

00 201 16 bar weight compare.webp

The lights seem great for the climbing saws, but I blew the tip up on a newish 24 inch bar with one little kickback... that didn't seem right...

I had a sugi light blow up a tip after not many hours (was not pleased), but have a tsumura light 24 that has seen crazy hours and 3 others that haven't had tips go. Wonder if there was a bad batch? 28" sugi has been totally fine, and run 36" tsumura which has held up well, just replacing due to bends from error but rails have held up surprisingly long.

I have all sugi bars, and my 18" has been run really hard, and still in great shape, relatively speaking. I have nearly worn off all the enamel, but the tip is still in surprisingly good shape.
I hear nothing but good about tsumura though, and would buy one without hesitation if it had the specs I was looking for.

That is odd, because the bar nose on an ES Light series bar is the same as the bar nose on an ES series. We keep replacements in the shop, and I’ve changed several over the years so I know that it is the same bar nose.
