God Bless Freedom Warriors

Didn't watch the video but I have been paying attention to what's going on there. It's silly in a way that they are protesting in the nation's capital over all of these mandates, but federally there are very few mandates brought in- namely international travel and the trucker mandates. All of the other mandates are brought in at a provincial level ( think state level) such as the masking and the never ending bullshit lockdowns.

I was in Ottawa today but not downtown- truck shopping haha! But all seemed normal where I was just a few more Canadian flags on trucks.

That being said I'm good friends with a family who lives very close to downtown and it's not all love and peace. The father figure in this family is a visible minority and the racist card that is being plaid isn't to be taken lightly- it's happening and it's happening because of this protest! I'm not saying that all of the people out there protesting are racists etc but it sure as hell brings them out to get their hate on when they feel empowered. Said to see it happening but that's the world we live in- people divided by fear do silly things.

I just hope it ends peacefully !

Something that you don't understand is that masks filter in two ways. one is physical where chunks are caught in the holes in the filter. That's what too many people focus on. Kind of like netting minnows with whale netting so to speak.

The other way 'filters' work is from how particles are 'grabbed' because of their electrical charge which is opposite of the material in the filter. Plus/minus.

Read the article that Rico linked. The physics is explained in easy to understand language.

i dont see why there isnt a similar protest on the southern border. many people in Mexico are vaxxed but since we were not so kind to send pfizer or moderna, they are vaxxed with the russian, chinese, or cuban vaccines. Which are not allowed.

Anyway, f... borders and god bless the freedom warriors! humanity needs freedom of movement not imaginary lines reinforced with steel and weapons.

The article that Rico posted is from a fact checking agency that has had a to walk back several of their "debunked" charges that were haphazardly casted. It's amusing to me how lazy people are when trying to refute a claim. You can just tell how scientific their synopsis is with quotes like: "But the physics involved don’t work like that at all," and of course the highly sophisticated "pants on fire claim." Politifact is like a child's measuring stick for truth in a world where the truth is of no real consequence. So go on and keep believing the garbage these corrupt fact checking agencies continue to churn out.

The problem with the "trust the science" argument is that there are so called experts on both sides. In fact, there are highly credentialed experts on both sides. You see this all the time in criminal cases, scientific debates on climate, and many other areas as well. You have credible experts with opposing views arguing the validity of different points to make their case, and it is not always clear what the iron clad truth is in relation to science. Because our understanding of things within the scientific realm are always changing, there will always be a level of interpretation involved. A scientist's ability to interpret the relevant known facts of a case or subject in order to extract a greater truth is something that will never be obsolete. Just like critical thinking. It is also true that not all scientists are equal in their ability to extract truth or formulate coherent theories based on the evidence at hand. Much like people's ability (or lack there of) to extract truth from the evidence at hand. The world is a strange place, and there is a lot more to it than meets the eye on most occasions. I am humbled by how little I know about the world, despite my best efforts to understand things at the deepest level possible. I understand we may be at an impasse here, and I would rather not stay in the weeds talking about droplets and GDP. I will say this. The ideals the truckers are fighting for are shared by far more people than the ones attending the protest. And we are in no way a fringe minority. Look at what is happening all over the world. This is the beginning of something big. People are sick of tyrannical governments and they are not going to put up with it forever. And thank God for that. If you think that what is happening in Australia is no big deal, then SHAME ON YOU. And if you think that that couldn't happen here then you are naive. Do you think the Australians would have allowed that to happen if the government hadn't taken away their guns? Do a little research of history and see what happens to nations who give up their guns. You can dismiss freedom loving patriots as fringe, or zealous, or "whiny" all you want. But people with that mindset, and that conviction of spirit, are not to be taken lightly, or easily dismissed. Without people like that our society would crumble into a totalitarian state. But thankfully people are starting to wake up. We are now seeing people on both sides of the aisle skeptical about the mandates. Skeptical about the utility of masks. Skeptical about the lack of validity in the lab leak theory. Skeptical about the honesty of Dr. Anthony Fauci. Skeptical about these Vaccines . Some people are a little late to the party, but I'm just glad they are starting to show up. This got me thinking about how long ago it was since masks were SOP at the dentist. Putting things onto my mental timeline I think its been way over 20 years. I'm going to ask a friend who is a dental hygenist about when masks became SOP.

This is what I got back about the mask timeline at the dentist:

Between 1980 and 1982. AIDS was the motivating factor for dentists to wear masks and gloves and they wrote the blood-borne pathogen‘s guidelines we’ve been following those guidelines ever since until Covid hit and Covid is not a blood-borne issue it’s an aerosol issue. Prior to 1980 we didn’t wear gloves or masks and we wiped things down with just regular alcohol and some things went in the autoclave and a cold sterile solution. Now any surface disinfection has to be able to kill tuberculosis.

@Brady Chapman these protests aren't about covid. Covid is just a vehicle for widening economic disparity between the rich and the poor.

Pivoting to Australia from being called out for your ignorance concerning masks is a straightforward logical fallacy. Quit casting about and get your people to vote for the freedom to work for decent wages and affordable healthcare.

While all parties are not functioning well, the right wing parties are really doubling down on lying and leveraging their version of "Jesus". There is so much room for everyone to occupy in bettering our world, but you - particularly you - need to reach for that. A lot of us really could use some help from real, science-based heavy lifting that we have been doing over the course of the pandemic. I don't need to be right, I just want to quite this self-inflicted mass death and get back to dealing with wealth inequality.

Science that uses algorithms and data based on endpoint agendas, can look very convincing. The litmus test is what actual, unbiased data reveal.

If the use of masks, by trained individuals no less, is indeed as efficient at stopping the transmission of covid 19 the below quotation would not be possible.
