Fu*%face Von Clownstick

Wow. Just been reported that Manafort secretly meet with Assange before the release of Podesta’s email! Treasonous conspiracy?

So, our business is just down the hill from Paradise and the fire burnt all the way down the canyon and up to a mile from my house. Been insanely busy and haven't been on the Buzz in a while. Nonetheless, here is a shirt a good friend of mine designed and other funny swag - He is from the region and lived in Chico for decades...all proceeds go to fire victims.
I bought a bunch for the 60% of my friends and family who know what's up.

I guess I’m just old fashioned, but a man who receives over $400 million from his father is definitely Not self-made in my book. The lie that is Donald J Trump continues.
Hey, did you hear about the German shepherd that inherited 370 million (true story)...funny thing...the dog still has all that money and hasn't gone bankrupt 6x. It didn't even need to sniff Putin or Crown Prince butt.

The calls just started coming in (The city of Paradise called me last night about contract cleanup)- 90% of people still haven't been to their residence and there isn't power or other utilities. I've provided estimates for 4 jobs so far for total landscape loss - I hate dealing with insurance companies! AAA and Farmers have been the best - no questions asked and just writing checks. Allstate must be basing their comps on 3rd world country rates.

I've only been to lower Paradise where every 5th house seemed to have survived. Central Paradise, however, is a total loss. I am utterly shocked how bad it was...haven't had the stomach to take pictures.

To tell the truth, we were already booked out 4 months - if it was lucrative enough, I'd have to put another crew together. I'm semi cautious and still weighing the risk and reward. Plus, we've never done this nature of work...fire compromised trees. Steep learning curve piled onto stress.

Every tree company is going to be on the hill, opening up more opportunities down the hill. Also, with the landscape rehab, we will have work for years.

I have removed exactly one burned up tree... and it was a lightning strike that hit the house... ran down the valley metal, down the rain gutter and burned through the side of the house to the wiring and burned the whole house down, which caught several trees on fire.

Most only had minor canopy damage, but one burned all night until morning. Luckily, it was snowing so most of the large stems were intact and still climbable. Like you said, @Levi.CO, it is unbelievably dirty work. I looked like I'd been cleaning chimney flues by climbing inside of them. Never had any desire to do it again.

On a trip out to see the wife's mother, shortly before her death, we saw lots of the fire damage in the Canon City area. What a mess. I felt sorry for all those guys cleaning it up. Looked like a lot of tree companies were contracted. Seems like every crew we saw had different company logo/name on the vehicles. Some were from out of state. Also, a lot of guys cutting trees up for firewood that the state had cut down for fire control. Apparently there was some kind of deal where they alloted folks a certain small area. This was back when you guys had all those fires burning up the mountains.

I've seen a myriad of contractors and tree crews that are already on FEMA, EPA and PG&E lists: Phoenix, Boise, and even from New Orleans. PG&E is facing an epic shit storm...word is they will declare bankruptcy if they are liable, which it is looking they will be.

I spoke to the Disaster Response center today - they reached out to me. There are 3 phases planned for cleanup of epic proportions. If I'm even going to get involved, it wont be until phase 3..about 4 months from now. Phase 1&2 requires a level of equipment we just dont have or want to rent.

It is not violence or drugs from illegal immigrants that we fear but that their own success will somehow prevent our own.
Something is wrong when our society allows an individual to be worth 130 billion dollars in just years when so many others are being left behind.
Class warfare is being fought by promoting tribal behaviour and that is a con job.
Rather than spending our money to keep other people out, we need to spend our money to benefit those within, start by putting our people back to work with pay, then invest in our people.
It's not a shutdown when people keep working, without getting paid.

This should not be human behavior.

Beautiful post Richard!

Meh. Can't say I've been affected in the slightest. Not even a little.

Just sayin, this is 1000% because they hate Trump. They're not against a wall when they think it's politically viable:

Yo, the last time I checked Trump and his minions have had 2 years of unfettered power to do whatever the fuck they want, as the democrats were mostly powerless to stop them. Did they do anything about the wall/border security, or any of the REAL issues facing our nation? Nope. Instead they gave the largest tax cut in history to the richest of the rich, while blowing the lid off of our nations debt. Most definitely the bestest, most winningest president ever!

Pretty fucking callous to suggest that this shutdown isn't effecting hard working Americans Buck. Go bust your ass at work for a few month with no pay, then come back and lets us all know how thats working out for you.

I beg to differ Bucknut. I will admit to despising Donald Trump for many reasons, but as a wildlife biologist I have always argued that walls like the one proposed by Trump are a disaster for wildlife because they cut off movement of terrestrial species, thereby limiting gene flow within and between populations. That is why I have always felt that border security methods that do not involve impenetrable walls are a reasonable compromise. I think there a lot of people out there who think like I do and statements like yours just strike me as the kind of thing I have come to expect from the talking heads on cable news. There are good reasons to disagree on this issue regardless of how one feels about Trump!

But Mexico is going to pay for it...he meant we will, including the demand that people work without pay. And conservatives say taxation is theft....I guess slavery is freedom.
