What makes you think everything has to happen in the middle of the show. Common courtesy is a good thing and the actors certainly did that. It would have been nice to see pence engage the audience, I don't know if he did. I feel sorrry for the guy having to always clean up trumps mess. Please understand jem the problem I have with trump is that he thinks what the actors did was worthy of an apology to him. There was nothing they did in either timing or delivery that was in any way offensive to pence or to trump. Pence was on his way out and I believe chose to stay and listen. If you read what they said, they were polite. I am sorry you don't see it that way jem. Your entitled to your opinion. I am not going to agree with it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and should be allowed to express it. It should just be done in a respectful, productive way. As for your last sentence I feel you could improve a bit maybe on that aspect.

I have had mixed feelings to respond to this thread at times. I feel maybe this is not the place for politics. I certainly have read some comments from people who's tree advice I respected but whom I have had to ignore because a political post of theirs was so ignorant I felt compelled. HOWEVER, I believe now is more important than ever to engage in political discussion in a respectful way!!! I feel it is key to uniting this county. And the most important part is to respect others even if you don't agree. I put that to work as a business owner with my tree crews. They respect me because I respect them and have earned their respect in turn.

So jem, disrespect only leads to fear, anger, frustration and a propensity to vent in a disrespectful way on others. If you are for trump and believe in him good. There are 50 million other voters who are with you. And another 50 million who are of a different opinion. Being respectful of others might be the only option you have if you want to "get along" with people more than 50% of the time. Think about why you are here. This is a tree site and that we have in common. If you choose not to tolerate others who do not share your opinion, then I ask you to please tolerate fellow tree lovers. You are young and full of energy and have an opinion. That is great. I hope you can Open you mind to the wisdom of those around you.

. sorry for the pity party trump train thing. This country is just screwed if actors, comedians sports players and anyone who has a base of people that follow what they say can disrespect the president and Vice President the way they have. This freedom of speech and expression stuff is over tolerated and influences young people to be disrespectful twits. That man giving his that speech to pence knew what he was doing and acted very well to seem like he was being professional. But he just wanted to give pence a hard time

i made it out of the field at the utility company as assistant to the safety supervisor after three years in the field. I had every sentence of all our lcqs books just about memorized, I got my arb cert a month after I made the three year qualification rule. I had nearly died a thousand times but was totally excited to get out of the field and had goals to change the entire ass backwards culture of the company. I Worked with Spanish Manuel crews trying to teach them some basic innovative climbing to save them from the 50 foot mid air hip thrust accents that was the norm and had started to break the language barrier and gain trust. I had bought Rosetta Stone and was doing my best with that. 2 months into my safety position some Spanish guy from a different region needed a job and I was told it's cause he spoke Spanish. I worked in a region with hundreds of Spanish workers and was on all Spanish crews multiple times. I've seen people come back with different names and heard all types of stories of corruption where I worked. Your talking to the wrong person about feeling like a minority at least in the tree industry

I don't understand how you think. What you said is a lot of how trump got his support. By saying what he felt, by insulting and disrespecting many others to the amusement and support of the base of people that follow him. I get why many people voted for him. Had he been a bit more,....... well actually a lot more respectful and tolerating of others ........and with a bit of political experience ....... and a better business track record ...... and more respected by othe...... i digress. Point is I may have voted for hiM. I get why people are sick of the beating around the bush that characterizes the establishment but there is a reason for it, simply it has to do with general respect for the people.

I really don't see how you think that it was disrespectful. Sorry.:tonto:

Rules of disagreement? ? ?

How bout late night twitter?

How about sketch comedy shows?

How bout taking a leak at the pub urinal? Is it acceptable to call a guy out as he handles the dingus?

Well you sir, are quite vocal about your opinions. Did you make sure that your stake, as a minority in your workplace, was looked after?
Levi you have no clue what I saw going on where I worked. Maybe shits gravy in the tree industry where your from but it's cut throat around here and cheap help represented by Immigrants makes it hard to make reasonable money for the extremely hard and competitive work

And Baumeister does make great points about being respectful and civil while disagreeing with others. I choose innapropriate humor to get my point across at times but being mean spirited and out shouting the other is generally counter productive.

Alright alright:baaa: white flag is up. I'm spending to much time on this thread and getting toopissed. You guys are great sorry if I offended anyone. I know a ton about trees if you see me on here talking about climbing and shit don't take anything from this to influence that and I won't either. Good bye fuck face von clown stick thread I'll never forget you

But he just wanted to give pence a hard time
I dont think it was so much giving him a hard time as it was expressing the thoughts of very concerned like minded people while they had him as an audience in person. Likely far more effective than a youtube video rant or some tweet. Certainly got publicity and a conversation started.

Whoa up!

Actors...Reagan, Clint, Ahhnold, Jesse, Fred Thompson, Franken, Shirley Temple Black ...the list is long. Are they the only ones who can criticize because they're also elected?

Freedom of speech is, to me, the most valuable and important right. Without it the rest sort of crumble.

Over tolerated? I think its under-encouraged.

Young people are all disrespectful twits...part of growing up.

I disagree. Jem I think it is a good idea to let it rest. Just don't go away mad. You pushed a lot of buttons and if you felt you didn't get anywhere, know that you were heard. we just dissagreeed and we weren't always all that polite either. Myself included. I really did mean it when I said you have a lot of energy and are not afraid to express yourself and that can be a good thing. Sounds like you have made some good uses with some of your communication skills at work. Keep that up and work on improving it where you see your weaknesses. I would suggest gathering lots of expertise expressing yourself. Not experience. Expertise is learning ; very different from experience. A good argument / leader/ speaker gathers people and focuses direction creating cooperation and communication/ action. PRODUCTIVE !!!!
Bad argument = poor leader frustrates people, creates separation, invokes aggressive pronunciation ( often yelling or aggressive talking) and invites violence / mistrust and disrespect. COUNTERPRODUCTIVE. If you need work I am swamped and could use some help. Can't believe I am asking a trump supporter but life is not all about politics. Pm me if you like. Good luck.

So there's no line at all when to call out someone else? We have a way you can make a difference it's called voting. The left lost so get over your pity party and get ready to make America great again on the trump train. Or just shut up and do your acting.
"Make America Great Again" Can you provide an example of when America was great? Under what administration? Great for who?

Elected officials of any type should welcome, and listen to any speak when they are in public. @Jem4417 you never answered my question, DID YOU WATCH THE SPEECH IN FULL? or did you just pick up on some headlines? Personally I feel that the speech was too soft, and could have had a little more punch to it.

Holy crap it's another white dude claiming that he knows what it feels like to be a minority? Sorry but that's freakin icing on the cake for me. I had it rough in my late teens and early/mid twenties, certainly stood out in a sea of rednecks, and had to think quick. However, if I were not a white male, I have no doubt I wouldn't be around today.
